Predict LaMelo Ball's Stats for This Year. What will he do?

Post#1 » by Pelly24 » Mon Sep 20, 2021 10:43 pm

So LaMelo was, as expected, pretty awesome last year. On defense, he was active and with his size and quickness, he showed some promise. He was a decent scorer and his three-ball already looks good enough. He was amazing passing the ball.

What will he do this year?

Could see him stagnate/have marginal improvement from rookie year, ala ja and Tatum. 17 7 and 7? Something like that. Still expect him to be a star but I’m not sure how real his 3pt shooting is

18 pts, 6 and 8 on 43% FG and 35% from 3.

Small improvement from rookie year because he'll play more mins with Graham and Monk no longer there. Imo, he has a high chance of having a sophomore slump as well since there's far more scouting on him now, more teams will zone in on him and there's more expectations.

I'm pretty confident he's going to come close to 18/8/8. Too much talent to not produce raw boxscore numbers.

The question is the efficiency... I have no idea if his rookie year was a fluke, or if he's generally improving as a shooter.

The next couple years are going to be interesting development wise for LaMelo.

FWIW I think LaMelo is just an elite talent. Natural feel for the game and the kid is a hardworker.

I don't think we ever had a great baseline for his shooting to begin with honestly. He became famous for knocking down that half-court three after pointing at the half court line. He scored 92 points in a high school game. Not that all of that means everything or even that much, but we only really saw his pro stats and then this past year.

But I definitely agree. It will be interesting to see what he does next.

I think his numbers will look similar to this past season's per-36 numbers. Around 20/7/7. I also wouldn't be surprised to see his shooting efficiency drop. With Graham and Monk gone and Bouknight being an unknown, there are going to be a lot of guard minutes available.

Also interested to see how he does for the full season if Hayward stays healthy. Don't know how the Hornets plan on using Plumlee, but I can see him eating some of his rebounds and possibly some of his assist numbers if they utilize his passing game.

He'll put up good numbers but I'm not convinced he has the right mentality to be a winning anchor. He certainly has the talent though so we'll see

He averaged 15/6/6 last year.

I can see 20/8/8 which would be amazing
