I believe the same will happen to Cade in that he has the most skills coming into the league but a prospect going to a better team or organization(Houston, SAS?) might surpass him when the draft class gets more mature.

I really really wanted Suggs but Barnes has me pleasantly surprised. The big noticeable thing is that the scouting note about 'infectious energy' is definitely true. The dude is everywhere, all the time, relentlessly.

Is Cade going to play in the preseason?
Lots of young talent i'm excited for. Magic and Cavs are a mess tho, idk how they find development time for all their young players

Barnes was never a nobody though. Not really comparable to Siakam.

Besides lottery picks, these two guys -

Trey Murphy III has really impressed me, He's consistently hitting shots and doesn't appear lost on defense at all - has picked up the speed of the game from SL and so far in pre-season. I think he'll get major minutes and have an impact for sure, NOLA has good depth in the frontcourt and if ZW is going to play point... How does a lineup of ZW/Graham/BI/MurphyIII/JV work ? Very 'positionless', am I right ?

Also pretty well documented in some other threads but Cam Thomas appears NBA-ready for BKN. The Nets are deep enough to absorb some of Kyrie's uncertainty, especially in the scoring area if Thomas can score 10 a game - which looks absolutely achievable for his skills from the off-season. Put him in with the second line-up, Mills, Griffin, LMA can always use an outlet knock-down shooter and if he's playing with starters, I think he'll be pretty open as double-teams hit KD and Harden (and Kyrie?).

Excited to see this thread throughout the year, good idea.
Cheers

Scottie Barnes finished with 8 pts, 3 rebs, 5 assists, 1 stl on 3-7 shooting and 2-2 FT. Looked really good defensively except he got into foul trouble (his 3rd foul was a complete phantom foul tho)

Justin Champagnie with 10 pts, 6 rebs, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block. Another all around solid game

Bouknight with another good scoring game with 17 off the bench (7-16 FG)

Barnes is shocking me, everytime I tried to watch him in college he was almost invisible. Missing FTs and just looked so raw. Raptors are awesome at the draft that's for sure no matter where they're picking.

Hopefully Cade plays, would hate to not see him get any burn before the regular season.

Jared Butler has been great so far. Plays like a vet at 21. I think the Jazz got a good one.

He is definitely raw as a scorer but not so much as a defender and passer. That's what I was trying to point out during the draft process because I feel many people equal a raw scorer to being a raw player. He has a decent one handed drop shot from 5-10 ft away and he can make mid range jumpshots but has no 3 point shot as of now. He's most dangerous as a passer in transition right now imo.

Jalen Green is about what I expected. He'll be an elite scorer, 30 PPG and leading the league. The rest will need to improve.

Mobley is playing hesitant right now but he is already making impact plays. Very versatile defender and extremely smart.

Obviously want to see Cade. Suggs hasn't really impressed me but it's also preseason. I think he really needs to improve his 3 point shot though because he isn't an elite athlete and bullying his way to the basket will be difficult.

Haven't seen some of the other rookies play but so far I like what I saw from these rooks. I predict they will be in an All Team Rookie by end of season

It’s really a shame he probably won’t play much with the depth the Knicks have.. he’s ready to contribute from day 1.. him and Duece McBride.. even Jericho Sims looks good

Trey Murphy will be one to watch. Maybe is just me but Bulls put alot of defensive pressure on Pels other night and seemed he was only one who could handle it along Val. Pels have good one, just stinks Zion is leaving soon.

I don't know who's going to win ROY but I do know that any rookie who hopes to be more impactful than Scottie Barnes this year is going to have to be daaaaamn good.
