Only 21 years old, he's put on muscle during his 1st proper offseason, and looks to be the focal point of Miami's offense off the bench, now that Dragic and Nunn are gone. The Heat intend to put the ball in Herro's hands alot this season. Could he win 6MOY or even MIP? Had a mediocre sophomore season and people started calling him overrated and writing him off. The addition of Lowry has made it easier for everyone on the roster for the Heat, including Herro, but what's impressive about Herro's numbers are that only 21.4% of his field goal makes are actually assisted, so he's being asked to run the offense alot more often than other high PPG leaders this preseason. How do you predict his stat line to look overall this season?
Miami actually has a pretty underrated core bench group, especially when Oladipo comes back:
Oladipo, Herro, Markieff, Dedmon are solid, although not sold on Vincent, but Strus and Yurtseven could surprise alot of people. Both balled out in the summer league and are looking pretty good in the preseason as well. There are alot of question marks with this bench overall, but I think they will do better than people expect collectively.

Breakout season next to Lowry and Jimmy.
18/6/2 and 39% 3pt incoming, with some big plays at clutch times.

Will probably win 6th man of the year, and on pace for being a star.

Meh, it feels like another case of a young player going at 100% while veterans are pacing themselves for the season.
Probably average somewhere between his 1st year or last year numbers.

It's preseason...Herro at best is sixth man, he not good enough to start.

He had somewhat of a sophomore slump and some if it resulted in the heat having to remind him to focus on the on court stuff and forget about the off-court stuff. He can only go up from there and this season will be a big test for him.
Having Lowry will be huge for his development and it'll do him wonders. He could be a 6th man off the bench for this year as the starting rotation will be Lowry/Robinson/Butler/Tucker/Adebayo. Their bench isn't too shabby.

herro's biggest problem is becoming overrated due to the finals, he's a very good player but people have big expectations when he's just not that type of player.

If he was that good then Miami wouldn’t have signed Lowry to a max contract.

Herro IS a starter on ANY NBA team. On the Heat he is the 4th best player after Bam, Butler and Lowry. Duncan Robinson is only starting because there is no one in the second unit that can do what Herro can. Herro is a stud player, and this year you’ll take notice.

Herro is not a PG, he is a 2 guard type player that can handle the rock. Miami needed a floor general and the reason why they signed Lowry.

He is already a good role player with star potential.

I see any team with him as their best or second best player, even at his prime, being a lottery or bad team. I think he will have the same impact as like a Lou William.

Seems we have mixed feelings on his potential on here: from those thinking he isn't any good to some thinking star potential. Who is a good NBA player comparison, past or present, in terms of how you envision Herro's career trajectory, or skillset?

With the Lou Williams comparison:
1) Herro appears to be a much better rebounder than Lou IMO. Lou is a career 2.2 rebounds-per-game player. Herro averaged 5 rebounds last season.
2) Lou Williams did not average 15+ PPG in a season until his age 28 season (10th season). Herro averaged 15+ PPG in his second season, which was a down season in many people's eyes.

Kevin Martin?
Majority of Kevin Martin's shots were assisted in his career. The Heat are asking Herro to run the offense from the second unit, and only 21.4% of his field goal makes have been assisted thus far in the preseason. Herro also appears to be a better rebounder and playmaker than Kevin Martin IMO.

Lowry isn’t on a max contract. And there’s zero correlation as Herro isn’t a point guard.
