Is Carmelo Anthony the most over-rated player ever?

It bugs me to see him on a list of 75 best NBA players in history. Must be 50 guys I'd put on there before him.
Say, Manu Ginobili for instance. Better player. Not even sniffing the list.
So, am I crazy? WAsn't Manu a much better player than Carmello?

He's technically one of the all time scorers in NBA history. He's in the top 10 of career points scored and may even reach the elite tier of 30k career points. I'd say that's top 75 at the very least.

I mean most that rank him higher go by his scoring, he really doesn't have a ton to hang his hat on beyond his very impressive overall scoring numbers.
People act like Lillard has had playoff troubles, Carmello has had worse ones.

Around these parts it's gotta be KG. Most people here acknowledge the fact that Melo has/had crippling weaknesses in his game.

You’re not crazy. Melo is vastly overrated and Manu is woefully unappreciated. I agree Melo doesn’t belong in the top 75, but Manu might not make it either…

There is more to the game than scoring. He doesnt make any ATG lists for me personally.

Not sure about most, but I'm not that high on him. I just updated my all-time list and Melo lands at #92. I don't think he should be in the top 75 list, and I think he'll make it over some small forwards I consider better than him like Alex English, Adrian Dantley, and Bernard King.

Considering you can’t even spell his name right, I’d say he’s underrated

Manus minutes / games / availability are the arguments against. I do think he was a far superior player to melo though.
I don’t really see melo getting overrated though

Melo averaged 25, 6, 3 over his first 14 seasons (nearly 1000 games), if Lebron wasn't around to skew the whole longevity thing. It is extremely impressive, lack of trophies or not

How much better was Carmelo than, say, 'Nique.

At his peak in his 20s, he wasn't over-rated at all. For a few years, I considered him the 2nd best offensive player in the NBA, before Durant overtook him.
In his 30s, he's been mostly trash but everyone has been aware of that, so again not really over-rated.
In comparison to some other players in 50-75 spots, there are quite a few with inferior careers or inferior peaks or both. I don't get how some players who were named to All-NBA 1st/2nd teams only once (or even never) made the list. Rose only had a couple of good years before tearing his ACL, Pierce never reached Carmelo's peak, Klay Thompson was a good player on a great team, and Kyrie shouldn't be there for too many reasons to list here. So again, not even over-rated relatively to some other active players.

I don't think so. Yes his playoff success or lack thereof is brutal considering he's only gotten out of the 1st round just twice and that was with hall of fame point guards exiting their prime or near retirement such as Chauncey and Jason Kidd but I don't know what else you can hold against him.
He's #12 on the scoring list and will past Dan Issel then he'll most likely pass Shaq to go into the top 10 assuming his body doesn't betray him. He was one of if not the best scorers in the league before Durant eclipsed him.
The top 75 list is gonna be a tough one. There were some obvious snubs on that list, but if I had to choose some, it'd be a few from the ABA like Dan Issel and Artis Gilmore who should be on that list due to their longevity, ability to stay healthy and the fact they won a title together with the Kentucky Colonels before they folded. Gary Payton and Dominique Wilkins should be on the list too.
Carmelo Anthony's legacy will be that of someone who was #2 in talent to LBJ which is no shame as LBJ is an all-time GOAT talent wise whereas with Anthony I always thought he could've been so much more if he hadn't made the mistake of pushing for a trade to New York and costing them all their trade assets and then making the brazen mistake of staying in NY vs going to Chicago to play with Butler and Noah after the 2013-14 season. Oh well.

Carmelo is better than Paul Pierce, if Carmelo had a Big 3 and played in the East. he would've had a ring.

no, that distinction, by far, goes to Bill Russell. In today's generation yes. Melo has been extremely overrated but he'll never approach Russell because people laughably have Russell top 3, 5 or 10 all time. But Melo isn't even the most overrated player in the game today, that would be Doncic.
