Is Andrew Wiggins currently a top 10 SF?

I feel like, from a certain point of view, he has become underrated nowadays.

He provides something like 17/5/3 with above average defense and somewhat efficient shooting.

Is he currently a top 10 SF in the league?

Yes. Hes a good two-way player. Hes not a star. Hes only underrated because of his contract. Once he gets a new one and is no longer overpaid he will be one of the most coveted 3rd or 4th options in the league.

in no order:

KD
Lebron
Middleton
Jimmy
Tatum
Brown
Ingram
Paul George
Kawhi
Bridges
technically Luka because he guards SF

not to mention when you consider how other comparable guys would look playing in GS system with Curry. I mean how good would a guy like OG look on the Warriors

it's safe to say no

He's right above average starting SF in the league... somewhere in the 14 to 16 range. That said, there are several guys in the league who are just a little bit behind him who make a ton less so he still isn't a valuable asset... but he is an OK player just never going to live up to that #1 pick or max contract.

It's tricky because some guys play multiple positions, but just glancing through the league and looking at who teams play, no. He's not top ten.

Tatum or Brown
Durant
Middleton
Mikal Bridges
Miles Bridges(or Hayward) both better
DeRozan
Butler
OG
Paul George (or Kawhi)
Anderson or Brooks
Ingram

And that's leaving out a few guys that I think have a pretty good case as well like Hunter, Barnes, Powell, Ingles maybe a couple of others.

But he's a solid enough starter playing a kind of team game he didn't ever indicate he could or would prior to the trade. So be happy with that.

Hell no. He is way to inconsistent. Other than last night he has played like a bum so far

TOP3 KD, Lebron, Kawhi

Next group Tatum, Butler, George, Middleton

To early to say who is next, so need to wait.

He's still barely over a replacement level player, let's not go crazy over 4 decent games for the thirtieth time in his career.

In no specific order, but I believe those guys are better:

Lebron;
Durant;
Paul George;
Jimmy Butler;
Miles Bridges;
Mikhal Bridges;
Jaylen Brown;
Tatum;
Ingram;
Harrison Barnes;
OG.

Maybe some of these guys are listed as PFs, and Im pretty sure I forgot some names. But I believe he is a Top15 SF, what is better than what I thought about him when he played for the Wolves.

Fringe or inside it doesn’t really matter

There are 13-15 guys who I'd have comfortably over him playing or should probably play the position. Then you have a handful that likely vault over him given their own player progression. So no.

Funny thing Warriors also have Otto Porter, another guy 3+d guy who was given a max contract previously.

Right here, the Steph Curry effect.

Small forwards that I'm totally certain are better than Wiggins:
1. Kevin Durant
2. LeBron James
3. Kawhi Leonard
4. Jimmy Butler
5. Jayson Tatum
6. Khris Middleton
7. DeMar DeRozan
8. Brandon Ingram

Then maybe there are some more SFs that I like more than him. But maybe not. So conservatively I would rank Wiggins between 9th to 13th.

He's been ridiculed a lot on this board but the truth is he is super solid, just overpaid (and not as much overpaid as 2 years ago). I voted 11-15, so an above average starter for his position. He`s not really great at anything (other than pure leaping ability) but he has no serious weakness either that can be exploited on either end. Good defender, can shoot alright, handle and pass a bit as well. Also very reliable.

funny part is at 18 if you took them all as prospects he would be no lower than third...

Help me with the humor? I think we all understand that being a highly rated prospect is no guarantee of future success. Once they are in the league everyone would be best served to immediately forget where they were drafted and judge them on their current abilities and future projections. I mean we didn't much time to realize that Spida was way underdrafted. Or Brogdan. Or Haliburton. Or Bey. Or countless others. Just like we didn't need much time to realize Bennett and Thabeet and Okafor and many others were way overdrafted.

It's just fans hold on to that perception created by that draft position. Nah, man you got to let that go. Doesn't matter how you get here, once you are here you need to perform.

Average player on a completely unjustified salary equals negative value.

One thing to note Wiggins is young enough to still improve. Especially playing in Min IMO stunts growth.
