When you play with MJ, you're going to be overshadowed.

its his own fault. he could be as big as he wants to be, but nobody wants to hear someone be bitter and petty. if just said,"hey the last dance left out a ton of things. mike did some great things but heres where i can fill in the gaps a little better ...." people would treat him a lot better.

he could be huge, just not as big as mj, and thats okay.

I initially read this as the most “disrespectful” all time great player, and was prepared to give an enthusiastic And 1.

Probably. I mean people constantly refer to him as the greatest sidekick of all time or the perfect Robin. Other guys like Mchale/Parish, Klay Thompson, Middleton, Worthy, Parker, Ginobili seem fine with it(at least publicly) but it bothers Pip. You have to believe that if Jordan/Pippen played in the 00s/10s the run would've ended after 3 titles cause Pippen would've probably elected to do his own thing. You saw what happened with AI/Stackhouse or KG/Marbury. Look at Kobe and Shaq. Even if the Lakers don't trade Shaq you can bet that eventually Kobe would've went to them with an ultimatum that either he becomes the focal point of the team or he walks.

It's kind of flipping back and forth recently now between some great number 2's wanting their own team and guys teaming up cause they want to win now.

Pippen is the most overrated player of all-time, he hardly guarded Magic Johnson in the 1991 Finals, but gets full credit for it....
Its the biggest achievement of his career, the thing people talk about most, and he didn't even do it....

There was a poll recently on this place asking Pippen or AD, and Scottie won pretty comfortably.

There was a recent poll comparing him to Kobe, and I’m pretty sure he secured a third of the vote.

Someone recently tried to argue the dude was better than Olajuwon was in the 90s.

Scottie ain’t disrespected. He’s just turning people off with his lame salty act as of late. Now people are getting fed up and calling him out for how overrated he’s become.

I'd really like to understand who it is that people think is disrespecting Scottie and how they are doing that?

Is it the uninformed Jordan stans that post on message boards (or the few who have talk shows) to downplay everyone else so they can prop up Jordan more? Those people disrespected Kobe even more and then LeBron even more so today.

Scottie was definitely not disrespected by MJ, who said in his very first sentence of his HOF speech that there is no MJ without Scottie. He wasn't disrespected by the people who picked him for the Dream Team, as a top 50 player in 96, that called him a top 5 player and second best perimeter player in the 90s. He's not disrespected by RealGMers who named him a top ~30 player of all time.

Being criticized for shortcomings in your career is not a sign of disrespect. It's par for the course. You look across the list of the top 30 players of all time - DRob, Kobe, LeBron, Nash, Barkley, Garnett, Harden, etc, etc, etc, - they are all criticized and they are all praised. Even Jordan was criticized endlessly during his career. No one is immune. You just have to be secure enough in your standing in history to understand that and not let the criticisms drown out the all of the praise.

He felt disrespected by the contract he signed with the Bulls, but he was the one who signed it against the recommendation of everyone include the Reinsdorf. The Bulls brought him back for his last year and basically paid him $10M to sit on the bench when they knew he couldn't play anymore. Then they paid him $1M each year for 15 years to be a team "ambassador" and not do anything other than some appearances here and there. When they did ask him to do more, he decided they were disrespecting him and quit. They just gave you $25+M for basically nothing and in the end you still feel like you were disrespected by them. It's gotta be painful living life like that - always focusing on the criticisms and negativity and not seeing the love and appreciation.

Jalen is doing Scottie a really big disservice feeding and justifying his bitterness with comments like this

Is being rated over AD some huge victory when you can google him and most of the things you find are just people **** on him and calling him overrated.

You see normally joining the Lakers would normally do some favours in that department, but joining the Lakers when they have LeBron ...

The funny part in all of this, is that the guy who actually has been forgotten for how incredible he was for the Bulls is Horace Grant. Horace doesn’t get nearly enough love for how incredible of a player he was.

I think Jalen may be lowkey referring to himself too, considering he was the second fiddle to Reggie Miller.
