They really should trade Ben at this point. The situation isn't improving, and the longer this goes on the more it will drag his value down. Sixers are waiting for another star to demand a trade, but it's becoming increasingly unlikely that Simmons will make that trade happen.

I'm not on Ben's side at all but just trade him. Send him out for whatever you can get and just be done. The team is playing well, just bring in another piece or two and end this debacle.

This is appropriate and the right move. Very predictable on both sides. Ben tried to get paid using an excuse that is hard to prove. Philly called his bluff.

This is a myth. GMs don't think like that. His value is what it is. Until he plays it won't change good or bad.

He will be worth more as we get closer to the trade deadline...no point in trading him now.

Why give him away for free? Bring him back, make him play, trade him for fair value. The crappy deals will always be there, they aren't going anywhere. You keep holding out if you are Philly, it's also setting a precedent. Look at Houstons return on Harden. Are they better off, at all?

Good as they should. I can understand having mental issues but it sure seems like hes just trying to game the system.

That's it. Well said.

I commend the Sixers for not bending the knee to Klutch.

Having to meet with team physician is harming Simmons' mental health.

Don't see Sixers ever winning this one in arbitration if challenged. They cannot prove that Simmons is not suffering from mental health issues.

Of course, I do think Simmons / Rich Paul is faking this whole mental health episode.

Now he'll report back and speak to their therapists with some key words he's been coached to say and it'll be rinse and repeat.

They really should just trade him, but as far as moves go, this is probably the right one for the Sixers.

Ben has a unique set of skills and limitations to his game. If 'mental health' questions (or faking mental health issues) get added to his list of risks, his value will decline further. Now you've got a player who can't/won't shoot and who also has some serious character/maturity issues that may hinder his ability to handle adversity and work on his game. It's two red flags instead of one.

I don't understand why they want him to play so bad. To improve his trade stock? Or do they think he'll have a change of heart and decide to stay? What if it does the opposite and he performs worse. Why take the risk? Team is playing well, why mess with the chemistry? It seems like a spiteful tactic to make Simmons do something he doesn't want to do. They're cutting off the nose to spite the face.

Should have just kept him away from the team until they could trade him, or should have traded him at the draft or during the summer.

Because a player with 4 years left on his max contract refusing to play for the team he signed with on his own free will is a terrible precedent for the NBA.

Ben for Westbrook? Ben would help the Laker's tremendously, but I'm not sure if Westbrook will fit in with Phili.

will he be worth more?

I think it depends on what type of team he gets traded to. If is a rebuilding team I would agree but if it to a playoff team waiting until the deadline will limit the time for said team to work him into the roster.

Also, Philly playing so well without him doesn't make his contributions look as valuable as he was in the past.
