Just going by the odds should have been plenty enough. What are the odds that another Gary Payton called his son Gary Payton II and that that random Gary Payton had great enough genes to pass to his son to make the NBA?

I did a quick google search and it says Gary Payton II has a sibling called Gary Payton Jr, but when you click on that link it shows the same person, so I question how accurate google is on the Payton family.

Lol really? Does he realize that the mitten was what people started calling Payton after that disastrous 2004 finals with the Lakers? And we need to start bringing back the nicknames of the 80’s and early 90’s instead of using initials or a shortened version of a players name. Davion “Off Night” Mitchell is bringing the classic nicknames back.

Is Thanasis related to Giannis? I might have thought so at first blush, but Antetekounmpo is a very common last name (in a tiny village in Nigeria), and there is absolutely no resemblance between the two in basketball ability.
