Why can't the Timberwolves put something good together?

Year after year, they are terrible. Not only is their roster continually a trainwreck of fit, they never get love from the refs. It's always an uphill battle with this team.
My latest is how we drafted Jarrett Culver #6 after trading up from #11. I wanted to stay put and draft Brandon Clarke. Well, Clarke killed us last night while Culver watched FROM THEIR BENCH! Adding into that, we gave Wiggins for DLo and our pick...conveyed last summer. Players are a wash imo, but hey we don't need that pick!
Why should I root for them anymore?

Teams that are consistently terrible always have one thing in common: ownership
The good news: Taylor will be out soon and it’s nearly impossible that Lore and Arod will do a worse job. Even if they are average owners that would be a huge upgrade. Just need to bide your time.

Starts up top. They just can’t build the right team. Although they have two great players right now.

The roster construction and asset management of the Timberwolves has been a travesty since the 'ol Joe Smith saga, where Minnesota decided to ruin any semblence of building around one of the best NBA players in history by offering to pay Joe **** Smith an "under the table" deal.
The Timberwolves decided to keep Wiggins instead of LaVine even though it was clear LaVine was already the better shooter and had more upside with his athleticism compared to what Wiggins showed.
Instead of building around Butler and Towns the team opted to extend Wiggins and build around him. Had the Wolves moved Wiggins and added a solid veteran around Butler/Towns we could have seen a different culture and team sprout up.
The team added on a 1st to swap Wiggins for Russell who had no idea how to play in an IQ-driven system in Golden State. The stretch of Russell in Golden State alone should have been a massive red flag for Minnesota.
Now we have a team where the most effective scoring center in the NBA and arguably the most dynamic scoring center in NBA history is 3rd in shot attempts on a lowsy team.

owner selects terrible management, the one right hire in Thibs probably shouldn't have had roster control, he took over a team that had KAT after one of the better rookie seasons of a big man ever and within a year was paying Aldrich/Dieng/Taj 1/3 of salary cap and using 1st round pick on Justin Patton when they were all best suited to be backup C

Who's a worst franchise, the Detroit Lions or Minnesota Timberwolves?

No ball movement
not enough rebounding
Lack of shooting
Defense has improved this year
Outside of Kat/d-lo/Edwards other guys don’t even touch the ball forget shooting they don’t even receive the ball on many plays lol.
Fire the coach

Some issues in society can't be fixed by simply throwing money at it. Well the Timberwolves are the basketball version of that if you replace money with lottery picks

I honestly would trade Towns soon-to get max value. See what Edwards plus TONS of young assets can become

They waste picks. They have had so many lottery picks with just Edwards and KAT to show for it.
Wesley Johnson #4
Derrick Williams #2
Shabazz Muhammad #13 (traded down from #9)
Zach Lavine #13 (traded for Butler rental)
Kris Dunn #5 (barely in the league)
Josh Okogie #20 (low pick because Butler dragged them to the playoffs)
Jarret Culver #6

Definitely the Lions. At least Minnesota had the KG years where they got to the conference finals. Plus football has tons of parity as far as playoff teams, tough to be a dynasty in a league with a hard cap. You'd think the Lions would have been good at least once or twice in the last 50 years.

Granted that trade was worth it even after Butler started to act up to get out of the Timberwolves.

Yeah it truly baffles the mind and should be a cautionary tale for any team that believes they can just tank their way to success. The Timberwolves have 2 first over picks and a 2nd overall pick. The team just doesn’t seem to fit together, I think they’re lacking above average defenders and a creator off the bench (shouldn’t have moved Rubio). There’s no reason that Minnesota couldn’t have built a similar team to the Bulls. Seems like the smedium 3 don’t fit together, their coaching isn’t good (who would have thought hiring the GM’s buddy instead of having an open coaching search is not the best move) and the fact that this has consistently happened falls on ownership. I honestly think KAT and Edwards are keepers, they just need the Chris Paul/Kyle Lowry type vet that’s a floor raiser. DLo for Simmons straight would solve a lot of their problems.

There is something in the air up here.
All of our teams absolutely suck and are famous for being chokers.
Timberwolves could get Steph curry tomorrow, and he'd start throwing up air balls. ****, even Mike Miller couldn't shoot here. Lol

coincidentally, this reminded me of that infamous contract MN tried to give to Sprewell, which they lucked out on as it was not enough to feed his family.

its quite telling that all those guys who didnt make it, didnt/wont even become elite players in their leagues outside the NBA. i contend, its just too hard to develop players when you are losing like this. zach and wig had so many bad habbits when they left the wolves it took them a long time to break out of.

KAT....he's a fraud. Scores well in losing efforts. No defense.
