If Steph wins MVP, Chip & Finals MVP this year where does he rank ?

Post#1 » by Floody100 » Sat Nov 13, 2021 7:27 am

I think it pretty obvious if he achieves all this he’ll be in the top 10 but exactly what position in that top 10 will he rank ?

Feels very, very premature to discuss this right now.

But I will say this for sure, if he win it all this year, Curry should be ranked higher all time than KD and Kobe. No debate.

clear cut top 15 easily. it's been 7 seasons since his first MVP and he's by far the runaway favorite of the early season. imagine how many more MVPs he could've had if KD didn't come over. if the warriors finish with the top seed it's a lock, and the west (and the whole league) is wide open right now.

Arguable top 10.

TOP 9 -
Kareem
MJ
Russell
Wilt
Magic
LeBron
Bird
Shaq
Duncan

Curry needs to be argued over Kobe, Hakeem, and Oscar. With 4 Championships and 3 MVP's, and the title of the greatest shooter of all-time... I think an argument can be made.

It is Durant's to lose right now.

It is a huge if for Curry to perform well in the NBA finals.

That's a BIG what if lmao.

He would have 4chips 3 MVPs 1fmvp.

So i personally docked Russell and wilt for playing in an era with 8-12 teams (Celtics also stacked)

Top 10 with LeBron /KAJ being interchangable. Same with bird and magic.

MJ
Lebron
KAJ
Magic
Bird
Wilt
Russell
Duncan
Kobe
Shaq

11.hakeem

Clearly curry would be above Hakeem and has an argument in in the lower top ten. A big stretch to argue in the magic/bird range. Though that might be better made as time goes on. Bc i think his legacy is one that will improve with time.

If he can get to 5 rings 4mvps 2fmvps tho and a long career .+ Changing the game.

That's top 3 imo. But that's not happening. if only kyrie isn't an idiot. The next 2 chips should be nets and KD.

He isn't top ten and won't be even if he does that.

Now, if he goes on a run again where he wins multiple championships, MVPs and finally get a couple FMVPs? Then we can talk. I think Durant still has a better chance of making it into the top 10.

I think the more intriguing thing is a west coast LeBron vs. Curry thing that could be a conference version of what we saw in the Finals for a few years.

The only guy since the Russell Celtics where if he plays with another all-time great the media comes up with excuses to exclude him from the discussion.

Here's the real deal: Steph is greater than the media awards. Unanimous MVP? One of his lesser accomplishments.

Should Steph lead the Warriors to another championship he will be above media awards in the same way Bill Russell was so far above media awards the media had to name one of their useless awards after him in the hope some of his greatness would rub off on the award.

I think he’d have a strong argument for top 10. He’d have 4 chips as the centerpiece of the most dominant team of the last decade while the team had a massive roster reconstruction in the middle of it. It’d be hard to argue some of the consensus top 10 guys over him, I.e. Hakeem and Bird.

Because brainwash by league, media, Nike happens.

If Steph wins again, without any questionable tampering, superteam constuction, superstar help, it is legitimate to ask what exactly puts LeBron above him, imho. For many people, Steph, not Bron, may be the player of this generation. Not only focussing on the player but also how the game has changed - this is Stephs' league and the game went towards his finesse / crazy shooting style, not Brons' raw force / athleticism.

If steph wins another title and mvp how can anyone put Lebron ahead of him? You give Curry a real superstar to play next to in Kd and everyone whines it’s unfair. You put a real superstar next to Lebron and you might win a title less than 50% chance any given year. Lebron has always had more talent on his teams, Curry is just able to lift his talent he plays with to greater heights. I’m fully expecting by the end of the year they’re going to call this iteration of the warriors a super team like 2015. Haha
