The_Hater has sadly passed away. RIP.

Just received this terrible news.

The_Hater, who's made 85,319 posts on this site, had been battling cancer for well over 2 years and passed away 2 days ago.

He was without a doubt one of my favorite people to talk ball with on the website. I know many people feel the same way. His opinions could be pretty off-kilter and would make me think about a player or team in a way I hadn't previously. At the same time he was super level-headed. He respected the game, and the RealGM community. Just a big contributor around here and I know lots of us are going to miss his presence. I already missed his presence, having not seen him post much in the last couple of weeks for reasons we now understand.

Rest in peace, The_Hater.

How do the mods normally get this type of tragic news? Poor guy, do we know what type of cancer he battled with?

Oh wow I've gotten into debates with him on this forum about some crazy basketball opinion that really doesn't mean much in the big picture tbh. I would say RIP but sometimes I feel we are half asleep here and the real stuff happens after we pass. Condolences to his friends and family. I will say RealGM will be a less interesting place.

I'm really sad about this. I'd been wondering where he was lately. One of my good pals on the GB and I'm going to miss him very much. Love to his friends and family. I'm legit crying right now. Rest well my friend. Life is so fragile.

Wow. So sorry for his family. **** cancer, my mom was taken in 2019 from it. RIP Hater, you will be missed. Rest easy brother.

One of the best posters on here. I will miss them. The boards will miss them. RIP

Be kind to each other. I think this site is a valuable outlet for people to disengage from real life/troubles and engage in their NBA fandom. I appreciate this platform for providing that.

Very sad news. We all post and argue all day long here. But there are real people behind these posts.

So we gotta our life in perspective to some of these silly arguments we have about teams and players.

I can't say I agreed with his opinion much but he was super active on this board. I hate to hear this. Memory eternal. Prayers going up for his family and friends. we are all in the end fans of basketball on here and we should never forget that no matter how we disagree.

My favourite poster. If you have time, sift through his posts for some incredible insight.

Spoiler alert - he was often direct (VERY DIRECT) when calling posters on their B.S.. it was an attribute and ability I envied when a moderator.

hot dang... condolences.

I always see him being a raptors fan and with real level headed posts and not going after hot takes. will definitely miss his posts on here. we mostly agreed but even when we didnt, i can see his reasoning.

I knew him from realgm and conversed a lot due to us being competitive jerks in a few fantasy leagues. He advised me of his health in the summer in case he were to "disappear". Hadn't heard from him in a week and found his obituary this morning.

He had cancer of the liver, specifically cholangiocarcinoma.

He was one tough and smart hombre and will be missed greatly.

Damn, this one kind of hurts. I’d always read his posts, they just made sense. I noticed his posting was getting less and less too =(
