It's absolutely insane how much Brittney Griner dominates that list.

To be fair, outside of Cambage, Griner has several inches on the rest of the women in this list.

I can still remember that initial Leslie dunk. And sadly every person on that list has one more dunk in a competitive game than me, assuming we call the all-star game competitive. What I would have given to have done it just once....

28 dunks over 19 years from over 1,000 players to have worn a WNBA jersey.
Rudy Gobert had 27 dunks in a single game. I blame google

Not in the NBA he didn't. But if your point is men dunk a lot more, you are correct. But this is well known already so not sure the relevance?

How about an "Every recorded layup in WNBA's history" list?

And if they had a million dollars for every dunk, the league still wouldn't be profitable. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just lower the rims. It still feels good to body someone on an 9' rim.

Really shows you how amazing the post defense is in the WNBA.

His career high is 35 points. Even if every single one of them came on dunks, that still only adds up to 17.5 dunks. Just sayin

I was trying to add perspective to the posting of a largely underwhelming list of athletic achievement. However I trusted google, didn't engage the brain and now look like an idiot
Wilt must have had at least 28 in a game.

Most of the time there is a WNBA thread on the GB it's open trolling or concern trolling with half the posters in the thread using it as an opportunity to mock the WNBA.
Given that the disparity of dunks between the NBA and WNBA are often a point to mock the WNBA by people I have to wonder why this thread was made.
Hopefully people stick to talking about basketball instead of mocking the athletes in the WNBA but I wouldn't count on it.

Is dunking important? Would the WNBA product be better if they played on 9 foot rims?

Even if you do it the feeling remains.
I've dunked in about 20 competitive games and I can tell you that I would give my left nut to have one thunderous dunk in a game.
Most of mine are pretty basic that really don't get the crowd riled up. You always shift the goalpost

Absolutely. No question. It’s unfair that the rim is set at that height. It should be set proportional to the average women’s player standing reach/vertical relative to men to make for an equal playing field.

Assuming this is a genuine questions - in theory I believe it would help the entertainment value for the masses. The ball is already smaller and the 3 pt line is closer. More than any sport, basketball at the pro level in the US displays out of this world athleticism. The women's game is very sound at a technical level. There is a reason why pro and semi-pro basketball players appreciate women's basketball so much more than the general public as compared to other sports. However, most fans have grown to see the game through the lens of athleticism and so can't really identify it. Race is also definitely a factor but I don't want to derail this conversation. However, there are two rebuttals against lowering the nets, both very legitimate:
1. Most women don't want the net lowered and they should have the final say in their sport
2. Youth rims are by and large not adjustable so you can't have the adjustment go down all the way to the grassroots level, thus limiting effectiveness and access
So, end of the day this is a moot proposal and we need to appreciate (and the WNBA needs to learn) to promote the Women's game as currently played.

It's not so much comparing the number of dunks to the NBA but that one player alone Britney Griner dominates that list as much as she has. Of all the dunks recorded in the WNBA's 25 year history she has 70% of them! I'm surprised that stat isn't more well known. I don't think George Mikan or Wilt had that much level of physical dominance over their competition.
I don't watch much WNBA but she has to be an absolute physical outlier in that game.

I still think they should toy with the idea of lowering the rim. these girls have a lot of skill but it’s just not aesthetically pleasing watching an entire game being played below the rim.
A struggling league should be open to experimenting.
