8 points on 3/6 shooting 6 reb 7! assists (including a crazy sexy behind the back one) 2 steals in 20 minutes from Alperen Sengun tonight against Boston..
the guy needs and deserves way more minutes on average, while I understand he gets in foul trouble kinda easily. refs have been extremely tough on him thus far too, multiple clean blocks called as fouls etc.
anyways, he's looking like a fantastic prospect for the future

Barnes has slowed down and has a thumb injury which may be affecting him a bit - hopefully it heals soon. Raptors also suffering from some identity / chemistry issues. How Barnes played to start the year was no illusion though - he's still incredibly raw and I think only injury or poor coaching would stop him developing into a star.
Mobley and Cade imo are a sure thing. At they very least they will be All Stars with the world ahead of them. Giddey, Wagner I really like in the tier below them and are impact starters at the least.
Suggs and Green have been really disappointing. Suggs does not have the handle of an elite NBA pg and does not have the shooting touch of an NBA sg. He has some work to do. Green seems like he is in a chucking competition with Kevin Porter jr. and needs an off season to work on his strength conditioning so he can handle NBA contact.

I really like the one at 0:25. Most of these assists are dribble handoffs.

Sengun really is better than Jalen isn’t he.
Rockets should just go full smaller Jokic route with him. Was an advanced stat darling coming into it
Saric had a better handle and shot from range but Sengun is bigger with more inside presence. It’s a skillset to examine if you want to go down that path. KPJ/Green isn’t a backcourt to invest in.
Man Green and Suggs have been huge disappointments and I like both so much coming into it. Been off their train for awhile now oh well
I miss Mobility
Oh and Giddey was the safest bet to be a top ten passer in the comp. Top 5? Most likely the case. It’s the rest of his game that needs rounding out, physically he’s improved so much which is a great thing.
I mean streaky big Rubio but earlier is still a very very good player.

Franz has had a few rough games lately, but that doesn't erase his great ones. Barnes has also slowed down since the arrival of Pascal. Suggs I've had to reevaluate the ceiling I placed on him, because he doesn't look like the player I envision at all. I still think he'll be alright, but not the player/ceiling I thought. Franz has been their best and most consistent rookie.

Another factor that doesn't get discussed too often is the longer 3pt line in the NBA versus College ball. These rookies are not only adjusting to the NBA speed but also the 3pt line. Guys like Cade, Green, Suggs are missing more 3s than we're used to seeing but its fairly common for guys to go through an adjustment period. I hope Cade doesn't lose any confidence and continues firing away 7-9 3's per game so he can get comfortable with the new 3pt line in game situations quicker.

Barnes scoring is down but this doesn’t mean he’s hit the wall, although I understand people here are quick to want to push him aside because they don’t like when the Raptors have nice things. He’s still doing a lot of great things out there - his playmaking is really coming along (averaging 4.5 assists per game in his last 6) and his rebounding is elite, clearly the best offensive rebounder among all rookies right now. He even sunk 2 from beyond the arc the other night.
However, the main mark against him right now and why he cannot be leading in the race even with Mobley out is his off-ball defense. His on-ball defense is fantastic, but his team defense is garbage right now. He looks lost out there sometimes in that regard. I am not too worried though, Nurse probably has the most difficult defensive scheme to learn of any coach in the league.

I think Suggs is all mental right now. If he has a slow start you can see it in his game, he puts his head down and start hesitating to shoot. Last night he had a few WIDE open 3's and he hesitated and didnt want to shoot them. At one point Wendall Carter Jr put his arm on his shoulder to lift him up because you could see how frustrated he is right now.
I agree that his ball handling isnt their though. I think I am one of the hardest Magic fans on Suggs, because more was expected of him, BUT I think it will eventually click. He just needs to stop thinking so much on the floor. The Brooklyn game showed that he can put the ball in the basket, but it also showed that if shots stop falling his confidence goes down and he goes into think mode which does not benefit his game.
Another thing that bothers me about Suggs' game right now is that he tries to avoid contact when getting into the lane by using hang time to try and get a layup off, rather than going full dunk mode on people. So many times he could easily dunk on someone, but holds off to try and avoid contact and then misses the layup and also gets no call.

i think people really under estimate fatigue. In the first month of the season, Barnes has played almost as many minutes as he did all season at Florida. That massive jump in workload going to impact rookies, especially someone like Barnes who crashes the glass and runs the break as often as he does.

Jeremiah Robinson earl has been really good for a second round pick too I’d replace him with Herbert if I had to pick somebody
