What's the deal with Duncan "D-3PO" Robinson?

What's up with my dude Duncan "D-3PO" Robinson? D-3PO used to be a machine from beyond the arc, a legit discount version of Joe Dolla Sign if you will.
But this year?
Mans ain't hot. After shooting above 40% from three each of the last two years, D-3PO is firing away at 34% from beyond the arc (37% overall from the field) on the highest volume of his career.
The minutes and opportunities are still there. The only theory I can come up for this malfunction in D-3PO's shooting game is that he's got money socks.
Heat gave Duncan a helluva deal this off-season at $90M over 5 and he hasn't looked right since.
What's the deal with D-3PO?

He got paid and probably put in less work in the offseason. Its human nature for some to take it easy after working so hard to get to that point.
Heat have to hope he'll turn it around if they wanna advance deep into the playoffs though. Or maybe Oladipo comes back and surprised everyone...

Why are you making a reference to C3PO and starwars?

Maybe he should focus less on the podcasting and more on his game.

Miami's always signing role players to big deals. Robinson, Olynyk, Waiters, Johnson.
They guy entered the league at age 24, so it's not like anyone should have expected him to keep improving. He only had one way to go, down.
Riley is great at drafting and finding hidden gems. But he also overpays them on their next contract.

There are a lot of great 3pt shooters with awful percentages this season. It could be because the changing of the brand of the ball. They could also get used to empty arenas.
Less than 35%: Brogdon, Randle, PG13, Garland, KP, Tim Hardway Jr, Furkan, DLo, Beasley, Crowder, Wood, Tatum, Shai, Grant, Donovan Mitchell, Miles Bridges, Monte Morris, Doncic, Middleton, Lillard, Rozier, NAW, Markanen, Lowry, Bullock, Clarkson, Beal

Is that what you really want as a fan?
And is that what you think is reducing his efficiency?

I'll just say this, over the last couple years we've seen multiple players come along and threads get started saying that these young players will be better than players like Korver or Redick.
I hope people come to realize the kind of work and the rare skillset that guys like Korver and Redick perfected over the years to make them so consistent. They perfected off ball movement and the ability to shoot off of crazy angles where they could be 40+% 3pt shooters for a decade. Those guys are truly rare. Just because a guy has 1 good season as an off ball shooter doesnt mean they're going to be a better version of a Korver or Redick.

Lol exactly guys play golf, video games, he does podcasts only difference is those others are private this is public. No one plays ball 24/7.
He's just having a rough start to the year but the team is winning and the last 10 games he's close to 39% shooting from 3 so his play has picked up.

He probably started podcasting less.

he did take a 2 week break because he didnt want his poor shooting to affect his mood in the pod actually.

I feel somewhat vindicated. I'm sure he'll be fine and he'll get back to being that 40% 3 point shooter that he has been.

riley problem is he doesnt deal those hidden gems for a superstar he ends up overpaying. robinson while a good player that tens of millions overpay. if role players like those get paid 20mil, you better have a superteam hes the last piece of puzzle.
i do think its close to superteam but butler and lowry wont last long.
i would have like to have seen everyone except lowry/butler traded for two more all nbas and form big 4. might sound bit 2k move but to win a chip you need to gamble like masai did.
