If not Denver, where does Jokic land in 2023?

Post#1 » by pro24 » Tue Nov 30, 2021 4:07 am

Please, the purpose of this thread is not to debate whether Jokic returns to Denver or not. It is to debate which non Denver team he would choose in the summer of 23 in the case he decided to leave Denver.

Here are my top 3 options for Joker considering fit and cap space:
1. Toronto.
Should be easy to get rid of Siakam, even if not, they would have the cap space. Good coach, GM, team culture. Not too old or young team that plays defense, that could use his offense, doesn’t have overly ball dominant players.
2. Grizzlies
They have cap space, he should be a great fit with Morant and JJJ.
3. Dallas
I don’t think he is a great fit with Luka (Is Luka capable of not hunching over at half court when he doesn’t have the ball) but Luka is Luka. KP would be in his last year (PO) and it shouldn’t be too difficult to get rid of him.

I think he'll return obviously but I can see him being tempted by the spurs fit depending on how their rebuild is going.

Murray is a dream pairing with him, it's a team culture that can nurture quieter, less media orientated players and Pop adores him.

only AD and THT are signed through 23-24.

Other than Giannis,Steph there are not many better fits with Jokic than AD.

Cap space, and fit could transcend his desire not to be in Hollywood.

Toronto would actually make a lot of sense.

But I’d expect an easy resign for him in Denver for the supermax.

yeh, it's not as if the lakers have a tradition of building winning multi-year championship teams around all-time great centers

You got to be kidding??? I could see him in Chicago, there is a large Serbian community there.

1. Denver
.
.
.
.
2. Retire
3. Dallas???

I think it’s pretty simple big cities have no allure to him. No social media, so the entertainment pull will do nothing for him either. If anything I wouldn’t be surprised if a big city would be a turn-off for him. Having lived in Denver, I think Denver is a perfect fit for his personality type.

But ya he honestly wouldn’t shock me if he retires early. I just think he likes his life in Serbia so much. It wouldn’t shock me if he retires at age 33 or something. I just don’t see him trying to go to a big city to team up with another superstar to try and win a ring. I think he just rides it out with Denver.

I said Dallas just because of Luka. I don’t know if those two are close or not though.

I hope he considers other teams. I think he is the best player in the league this year, even though Steph is running away with the MVP award.
