Do you think that deep down inside that Pippen believes that he was better than Jordan?

I have been watching his interviews and it seems like he wants to just come out and say it.

No. He is just very angry document about Jordan's last year wasn't hyping up his own over the hill entitled self. Which he can only blame himself over that...

Naw, but he definitely resents the fact that Jordan has lapped him a gazillion times already with respect to financial success while he hast to fight for scraps.

He's always had that passive aggressive vibe to him and he made some terrible financial decisions that have really hurt him.

No skin of Jordan's back, all this yapping isn't going to hurt his legacy and if it puts some money in Scottie's pockets more power to him.

It's sad to see quite frankly, but whatever, Pippen is still a legend.

I do find myself wondering if he believes that, yes.

Deep down inside, he wished he has MJ's career and the main guy the entire time. But he for sure knows he wasn't better than MJ. That must've been a lot of pressure the year MJ first retired where it became his team. The only way he could claim he was better was to win a ring and he didn't.

There just seems to be a lot of jealousy there. And MJ doesn't seem like a likeable guy cuz he's so conpetitive and too alpha 24/7. You can live with it cuz he brings you success but you just don't wanna praise the dude. So to sell your book, you say outlandish things to sorta troll or diminish him while you make money. Doesn't seem like they're friends, it was just a business relationship. That's what it seems like to me.

He is simply upset because Future banged his wife and made songs about, has been interviewed multiple times regarding the topic etc.

That said, no, he doesn't think he was better than Jordan, but I'm sure he feels and knows that, had he been more selfish and gone to a different team when he had the chance in his prime, he might have had more individual success and the Bulls would have had less team success, therefore, MJ would probably have 4 titles or so. However, MJ would still be considered the goat cause his stats would have been even more impressive.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Pippen has been angry far before the documentary released. Notice how he has a difficult time holding employment with companies like ESPN? It's because he's not pleasant to be around.

With his first born child's death in April of this year things seem to be getting worse with Pippen.

Let’s not act like this Pippen stuff doesn’t go back to when he was playing on the Bulls. This has always been Pippen. For a man that cries “underpaid” a lot he has made more money than his contemporaries.

I love Scottie the player, I loved him more than Jordan at the time. He is not the better player. He does know how to troll though and he seems to be having fun doing that.

Remember when Alozno Mourning said Pippen told him that Lebron was better than MJ? This was in 2013 so it seems Pippen wasn't fond of MJ for a while.

he might tell himself he was better but there's no way he believes that deep down inside.

Pippen has always been a whiny head case with a super fragile ego, and to me his current attitude seems like an unfortunate continuation of his residual anger and refusal to accept his own shortcomings with his contract negotation stupidity and his perception as Jordan's sidekick. The contract stuff is 100% his own fault, but he keeps trying to shift the blame to the Bulls FO rather than face up to reality.

and he ought to be on his knees every single day thanking God for Michael Jordan as a teammate, because without MJ, Pippen would have never been considered one of the greats. I think Scottie was probably one of the best complementary guys of all time, but he's become overrated in modern fans' minds and never had the mental fortitude and ability to lead a team to sustained success as the top guy. If you give me every player in NBA history to start a team with, Scottie Pippen is pretty far down my list.

The man had his chance to be the top guy for a brief time in Chicago. He was great until it mattered most because he didn’t have the offensive skill set or mentality. He could’ve embraced being the greatest Robin ever but now his legacy will continue to diminish because of his feelings.

No but I do think he (rightfully) feels underappreciated historically. Many people don't realize he was talented enough to be a franchise level (or at least borderline) SF, instead he's treated like a hyped up Igoudala.

He's also upset that the documentary portrays it as it was MJ and everyone else, not giving him n the team it's dues for how good they were. Plus that he's being portrayed as lazy or not putting the team first when it's arguable he sacrificed the most out of any player historically.

He should just come out and say it, if that's what he feels. He's dead wrong, but at least own it.

I'm sure a lot of players feel they're better than Jordan.

Who cares? He's just bitter.

I like Kyrie better personally, but he's a little like Kyrie in that he has issues and he needed someone to keep him in line. LeBron did that for Kyrie (and Kyrie didn't seem to like it much, choosing to leave the Cavs) and Jordan did that for Pippen. Pippen when left to his own devices made bad choices and really had some bad performances. He signed a terrible contract against advice, he refused to go into a playoff game because he didn't like the play call, he throws a ball into the stands in another game and gets ejected, he scores two points in game 7 against Detroit in 42 minutes, etc...

He just can't accept his role in the big scheme of things and his obvious shortcomings.

No.

I believe Pippen sees himself & Jordan as more of a Kobe/Shaq relationship. Clearly Shaq was more important to the 3 peat but Kobe is still a top 10-15 all time great.

Pippen feels disrespected because he believes the world views him more as a Parker/Ginobli role next to Jordan's Duncan role.

Hell to the no. Until recently, he was saying Jordan was the goat over Lebron. People seem to forget that. He's just trying to sell a book. He's also pissed off about the documentary.
