OT: Are Coaches In Suits Done For Good?

I know this started in the bubble and still exists now but I have a feeling this isn't coming back and if I were a coach I would prefer it didn't rather than wearing a suit that depending on the game I could be pouring in sweat by the end of. Plus even with tailor made suits I can't imagine it's more comfortable than their current attire.
I'm actually curious where does the whole practice of certain sports coaches wearing suits comes from.

I like wearing suits so if I was coach, I would wear one. Now you know, put a good PR on me to your local NBA GM.

Yes. Society in general is going to more casual dressing. Was happening before COVID, and COVID expeditated it.

I'm still trying to find the correlation between the pandemic and dressing casual.

I think it's as R-Dawg said, this trend was happening before the pandemic. Pandemic just sped things up. I work in an industry that was slow to the movement but we found we were missing out on good candidates because competitors were offering a more lax environment. Still doing high quality work (and working hard), just not forcing people to dress a certain way to do it.

This. I think suits are done for now, unless for weddings/funerals and conservative industries..In my field showing up in a suit for an interview may signify you arent a cultural fit

No one wears suits anymore. Even in business. Maybe Wall Street east cost banker?

If I were coaching. I would still suit up on occasion. I hate that you can't so it in the NFL. I would love to see someone occasionally try to pull off a Landry or Lombardy

It would be more entertaining if the coach had to dress as the mascot for the games.

That's true.... but what Boats is saying has some truth to it. Generally company owners, big guys don't wear suits anywhere near as much as they used to. It's something I see middle management type guys do, performative stuff to seem professional. None of the guys I meet with that run companies run a suit.
It's a regional thing though, I notice some more conservative states the suit is still part of the "professional requirement" where in California nobody cares.
As for the thread, I'm fine if nobody wants to wear a suit anymore. Suits have always been part of a performative "professionalism" that I abhor. I've never owned one and never will.
