Booker vs Lavine

Who is the better player right now?
Let's say both are free agents next offseason (lavine is). Who would you rather give a max contract to?

Booker, but it's not a very easy decision. I simply value his skillset slightly above what Zach brings to the table. Consistent shooting from anywhere on the court, plays extremely well within the offensive and seems near unstoppable when he can get to his spots.

But both of these guys are still young emerging superstars. Both have decent teams now and operate well within them. Signing either of them to most squads would be a plus, and both guys will be your star.

As great Lavine has a higher ts% and scoring volume this year, I would still prefer Booker given this superior career ts%.

I pick current and future Booker.

Booker took his team to the finals. It’s hard to not choose him. Though, 1:1, simply from a skills perspective - I think Lavine might be more talented. Just needs to everything to come together now

Booker mainly due to last year's playoff run. Name me someone else who has closed out a LeBron led team with 47 pts like Booker did last year and had plenty of other high scoring, high efficiency games like he did. That was big.

That's a bit disingenuous, he had some significant help getting them to the finals.

LaVine. I think he's the most underrated player in the game.

Book has the best midrange game in the league, next to Chris Paul. It's like 1/1a. Lavine is fun to watch and I'm happy he's finally breaking out to star status but Book is already proven through the Finals and I believe Book has that competitive edge that mimicks Kobe/MJ much more than Lavine has. Not saying Lavine can't get there, but the intangibles favor Book.

They’re pretty comparable.
It’s not that I have any particular doubts over Lavine that weren’t there with Booker a year ago, but now that there’s evidence of Booker doing it in the playoffs he gets the benefit of the doubt.

Put Lavine on the Suns and Booker on the Bulls, what happens?

I think its extremely close and think Lavine is one of the most underrated guys in the league.

I think some of it is expectations management.

Booker I think was viewed as basically a spot up shooter entering the league and immediately showed his games far more dynamic. That 70 point game his second season etc. He was basically working on house money right away because by year-1 he'd already more than justified his draft position. He's basically been viewed as a net positive from day 1. He never had to fight against a preconceived notion that he was a raw player or a scrub.

Levine was much more raw and developed a lot slower. He pretty polished now but still is perceived as a raw player who puts up 'losing team stats'. He was actually a bad or negative player for a while and it took a lot to get to where he is today.

Lavines scoring numbers are pretty insane and don't get enough attention.

Imo Lavine is essentially a more efficient version of Booker. I've been a pretty big fan of Zach since coming into the league and think he's still underrated, but at least now that he's got a good supporting cast he's getting some shine. Both have a knack for hitting incredible difficult shots.

The poll is close as expected. In these comparisons, you would usually go with the one who has higher intangibles, but there's no clear distinction there either.

Booker was a net negative on a championship caliber team last year . Yikes.

1. SGA
2. LaVine
3. Booker
4. Mitchell
5. Brown/Murray

The position is in good hands.

LaVine is the better player. People are saying it’s close, and that’s with LaVine playing through that thumb injury that had him play a little shakey early on. Now that it’s finally fully healed, I expect LaVine to start separating himself from Booker more.

Super close but I think I'd go with Lavine. His efficiency was better despite not having the benefits Booker had (specifically CP3)

One of those coin flips between two players on good teams where both should be entirely happy with who they have

How many did Book play before Chris Paul? Dude had 1 year in the playoffs and are acting like he’s a grizzled vet lol. Tf
