If the NBA switched to "best-of-5" for games, how significant would strategy and roster changes be?

Rules:
Five 10 minute periods.
First team to win three periods wins.
A match can go 3-0, 3-1, and 3-2
If a period is tied at end of 10 minutes, it's a jump ball and next point wins.

Sounds like a terrible idea.

It would really challenge the common conception of the word "quarter".

Hah I wrote it all out as quarters, then edited the body but forgot to edit the subject to reflect periods. Took me a sec to realize...quarters are 1/4

That would be a great format to make the All Star game interesting, and a little more simple then the last format they tried.

I think you'd get better result if you go the Volleyball/Tennis route- sets/periods should not be determined by time.

It should be something like: first to 21 or whatever, wins the period.

Crazy idea btw, it'd be like an entirely different sport.

Why not just have ten 5 minute dimes?

Five quarters, inflation is even worse than people are saying.

Honestly would it make it probably more exciting product. But I like classic one.

Maybe play it outdoors on assfault and people can bring their pets too.

I think it would probably allow players to play more minutes. But the most important thing is that we can't call it quarters anymore.

Many games will finish early with a 3-0 score. I don't know if that's worse than a 30 point blow out, but it won't happen. They'll lose too much time for commercials.
