Damian Lillard Wants Portland To Trade For Benjamin Simmons

Listen, I know this is almost a non story, OBVIOUSLY the Blazers need to upgrade their roster. My question is, what does that say of Lillard's minset as far as playing with Embiid?

I'm also getting Harden vibes here... what happens if Portland trades CJ, and a few picks for Simmons, and it stil doesn't work out (ala Westbrook to the Rockets). Lillard will still want out and the Blazers will be in an even worse position. I say trade all your assets, gut the roster, start Dennis Smith Jr. and Simons, and build on the young dudes. Collect assets.

It seems that things in Portland are ready to implode...

Portland Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard would reportedly like his team to acquire Ben Simmons. Lillard is pushing the franchise to make significant roster changes, even in the wake of Portland firing Neil Olshey.

In the past, the Blazers and Philadelphia 76ers held discussions that involved moving guard C.J. McCollum, a first-round pick and a young player for Simmons. Talks stalled when Philadelphia asked for McCollum and multiple first-round picks and pick swaps.

Olshey was a fervent supporter of McCollum. Olshey considered McCollum to be "his" draft find and had been reluctant to trade the 30-year-old combo guard.

The Trail Blazers organization hopes that firing Olshey serves a reset for the franchise. With uncertainty looming over Lillard's future, there is a thought the team may look to make changes to keep their star committed to Portland.

CJ+ 2 lightly protected/unprotects 1st round picks. Not ideal for Philly, but they stay competitive in an open league while getting some future assets to help upgrade the roster later on

everybody except dame should be on the trade block in order to improve the team and if that fails miserably, we trade everybody and go into full rebuild and i think thats exactly whats gonna happen, new gm will make sure to do so

Nope. Thats a lot of small and/or bad defenders on the perimeter. I agree that a 3rd team would have to be involved

See, this makes sense to me. Philly loads up on draft picks, which should entice Portland, and in return Philly gets back the aging STUD. 2-3 years of serious contention for Philadelphia.

Then you have Green and Thybulle but still have to clear the glut with Shake and Furkan. Simmons does seem likely to end up in Portland even with all that in mind

This year's pick is lotto protected, otherwise going to Chicago (Larry Nance trade) apparently


To be honest, for Portland, Simmons would be an incredible upgrade and asset, if you look at their needs.

But just don't see why Philadelphia would take CJ, or they can move him to another team

But a lot of picks (3 minimum) and Anfernee Simons (upgrade over Milton) should be attached

How? Simmons won't come cheap, we all knew that. Morey has held to his guns and will get a lions share return if and when a trade happens. Look at the draft picks the Nets gave up to get Harden, that sounds like the foundation of a trade. Honestly I think it should be the other way around, it makes more sense to trade Lillard and get him on the 76ers, that way he has a real chance to compete.
