Which trio would you rather build around in their prime? Assuming no personality clashes.

Kobe stands out like a sore thumb from this group. Replace him with someone else and the middle group is more viable.

I'm no LeBron fan, but I go with group three. Amazing fit.
Now that's the difference between first and last place.

C'mon, Jordan, Magic and Bird easily. LeBron, KD and Curry would be very good, but put Jordan on Curry and he's got it tough. Stick Bird, an underrated defender on KD. The biggest problem would be LeBron going inside but Jordan and Bird's defense is just too good against these teams.

The first group has the 3 best players ever at their positions. I mean, c'mon.

Is Bird a PF to you or do you have him above LeBron?

Yeah more like you're no Kobe fan.

You have a funny definition of a sore thumb

Kobe was one of the best guards of his generation. I just think if you give Shaq and Duncan a better guard then this is more balanced.

The second trio would be the most dominant defensively of all these groups pretty easily. I think they’d be the most balanced when factoring in offense and defense.

My point is proven. Kobe was the best guard of his generation and top 2 or 3 all time. Stop it.

Balance is off because Shaq and Duncan don't fit but they're the other top 3 of that generation too (which is clearly what OP is trying to ask) so there's no way to leave one off.

Jordan is the GOAT and Magic and Bird are 2 other top 6 players all time. Shaq and Duncan are a terrible fit together in the modern era, and KD/Curry stick out like sore thumbs in this list of top 10 players ever.

First group and it's not even close.

We actually saw Kobe and Shaq combine a to form dominant duo. In fact I would argue they were more dominant than Steph and KD. I don’t think the difference in Lebron to Duncan offsets that. To me this is between the first two groups.

Replace Kobe with Nash and the middle trio is better.

I have Bird as a SF since the greatest frontcourt in NBA history is Bird at SF, McHale at PF and Parish at C. And yes, I have Bird above Lebron. IMO Bird is the second greatest player in NBA history. There is not one player I would take over him if the game was on the line and we needed a basket.

The question is…flawed. And incomplete.

No answer is correct other than Jordan, Magic, Bird.

Building around a shooter+ (Bird), passer+ (Magic), scorer+ (Jordan) is easy and basketball ideal. Add a rim protecting center and rebounding forward and you have the ultimate team. Do this within constraints of a salary cap is actually doable.

The other trios would take larger roles to fill the voids left by the big trio.

This poll is gonna be a bloodbath for the MJ group.

But I actually get the purpose of forming these three groups. These were the dominant forces of their eras. But magic bird and MJ talent and charisma had the biggest collective impact to the game that we will likely ever see. Taking the game from relative obscurity as a late night tape delayed niche sport to worldwide phenomenon. Any debate of superiority between relative eras is just never ending fodder when there isnt anything better to talk about however.

Jordan, Magic, and Bird just complement each other beautifully. Jordan could be the alpha scorer, while Bird and Magic are transcendent playmakers who could also take over the game if they want to. Bird can hit threes, Magic can play center in a small-ball lineup. It's just so easy to fill the roster around them.

Lebron-KD-Curry would be a close second though.
