Yup. He would try some foul baiting BS move and then cry to the refs when it wasn't called, it really made him go from one of the most exciting players to watch to being a villain in my book.

Luka is top 5 in both free throw attempts and technical fouls. So yeah, he should stop complaining and get back on defense imo.

Edit: For accuracy, he is actually 6th in FT attempts at the moment.

Kidd threw luka under the steam roller and if luka doesn't demand a trade he's not a man. This is one of the worst things we've ever seen in professional basketball.

It's very likely that it's been said privately, both Rick Carlisle and J.Kidd would've immediately told him what's up.

J.Kidd is not as fiery as Carlisle; and won't get into the ref's ear (on Luka's behalf) as much. Maybe that's part of the issue.

Per the segment, Kidd already has addressed it privately and it's pretty clear he was answering a question. Luka could get mad about it but my guess is that he doesn't.

I like Luka but dude needs to eat a salad and lock himself in the gym until he can hit 70% of his FTs again. Say what you want about 3P%, degree of difficulty and all that, but the fact that he's dipped sub 70 on FTs is just ridiculous and it begs the question of where his head is at

The difference is that Luka said that Kidd got a point and he has to stop doing it, while Simmons asked out.

Let me start by saying I agree 100% Luka needs to leave the refs alone especially when it results in him not hustling back. But being top 5 in FTA is irrelevant to whether or not he has anything to complain about. I think he leads the league in usage and drives to the basket. And he's big and crafty and he relentlessly hunts mismatches.

I think Luka should leave the refs alone. But he's not wrong about them not calling a lot of contact that other stars are getting. Especially because he's so good at finishing through contact. I mean we all know how many times there is a late whistle where the ref only calls a foul because a shot is missed.


He needs to go consult with Dirk though. Dirk also complained a ton of about calls, but he always got back on defense. He might be yelling at a ref the whole way down and chopping his own arm to show where he got hit, but he got back. And he didn't start complaining until he had established himself in the league.

And Kidd needs to be taking some techs for Luka. Kidd never complains loudly about a call. I think its easier to get Luka to agree to shut up if he knows that when Luka's been hit 3 or 4 times without a call that Kidd will be loudly in the refs ears on it. That was one thing Rick was great about. He would go take the tech so Luka didn't always have to.
