It’s in here because it’s related.

We’re trying to figure out why there are no fans in Toronto but maximum capacity in the other 29 arenas.

Nah, you're in here because you take every opportunity to bash the whole idea of vaccines or protocols or anything that authorities do to try and save lives. It's the same on every thread that vaccines are mentioned.

WASHINGTON, Jan 10 (Reuters) - The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and U.S. State Department on Monday advised against travel to neighboring Canada because of a rising number of COVID-19 cases as the Omicron variant spreads.
Seems NBA (and NHL) will need to figure something out.

Teams will still be going there. 'Advising' isn't banning.
That's true.

canada's way up there in deaths for capita as well. Their approach is just minimizing people dying and screw everyone else and their fun and money.

Canada’s not even top 100 in deaths per capita. Looks like we’re doing a lot better than US.

One or both of these are false positives.

You dont get the flu twice in 3 weeks. This virus is no different.

He could be a close contact under preventive quarantine the first time (or both), and actually positive the second, know several people that happened to

I worked for a Japanese founded company for 5 years. Their culture is a lot about cleanliness and selflessness. As well as masking has been a thing in their culture for MANY years.

Not sure what the details are with Beal's particular situation, but there are many people who caught Omicron after having had Delta previously.

This literally is the strain that can't be stopped, which is not necessarily the worst thing considering it's generally mild and can get the world to herd immunity.

Yup, Omicron is super mild. Which makes Ontario even more a joke considering they're locked down from indoor dining to gyms and schools.

I tell people that they have 2 options: get Covid and experience a mild cold, or get 2-3 jabs, wear a mask, socially distance, don't go to the gym and then get Covid and experience a mild cold.

Not a tough choice. America's doing it the right way. Fill the seats and move on with life. I applaud them for not giving in to tyranny and allow the citizens to live their lives. Toronto is a joke for having no fans.

This is amazingly comical if it happens. Article is saying Nets could just pay fines while playing Kyrie at home.

The article says the fines are 1k. 2k, and 5k. The actual executive order says the fines shall be "not less than" those numbers. There is no upper limit specified, they could fine them as much as they want. They could decide it was a good way to fund the NYC budget. Also, anyone who enters the arena is subject to the vaccination order, so if the Nets changed their policy that option would be open to spectators, etc.
The order:

Of course they could afford it. I was mainly trying to point out the hypocrisy that will be displayed once all of the pro mandate people are cheering on their beloved Nets after they "break the rules."

Like usual, they'll deny it and move the goal posts.

Compounds in cannabis can prevent infection from the virus that causes Covid-19 by blocking its entry into cells, according to a study published this week by researchers affiliated with Oregon State University. A report on the research, “Cannabinoids Block Cellular Entry of SARS-CoV-2 and the Emerging Variants,” was published online on Monday by the Journal of Natural Products.

Can they afford all the fines for the unvaccinated crowds who will be filling the stands after they change the rules? Because it's the venue that would have to pay. And as I pointed out above, those numbers on fines are the minimums. The actual fines could be much higher.

I’m sure this violates the OP’s strict guidelines, but there is potential for some good news. The omicron rage seems to have crested in the NE and should recede, like we’ve seen in SA and GB. Probably will run its course by March. It’s incredible infectious rate has certainly hit hard the unvaccinated population, so between the 62% of those fully vaccinated, and whatever percentage of folks who have been refusing, the combination of folks with active anti-bodies and enhanced t-cells should well hit what has traditionally been solid herd immunity levels. So, with something like reasonable precautions against any other lurking variants, we could have conditions that approach normal by playoff time. (Normal would be welcome.)
