attempting to block the path to the ball from that far away seems kinda dumb too.

Little's right.

Kyrie put himself in danger by not diving. Sometimes when you try to play it safe you actually end up being the one hurt.

THIS

He wants to body block but have 0 physicality involved in the game because [fill in your logical conclusions here]

Don't blame the person actually showing competitiveness and trying on the court.

Nassir Little is still fighting to find his place in the league and establish himself. He doesn't have the luxury that Irving has of not hustling on some plays or not diving for loose balls. He did what every coach and every fan wants to see from their players.

Oddly I find myself agreeing with Kyrie. Little crashed underneath Irving’s legs. Refs should do a better job officiating that play. In Little’s defense we see that all the time, but I do agree with Kyrie that it’s unnecessary

I don't see any problem with it

I heard Kyrie talk about it and I assumed he was just crying but having watched it now, I agree with Kyrie. I don't mind anyone hustling or diving but once you start going through or under legs, you are asking for trouble. It's still a fraternity. You don't do that

Little didn't really have an angle on the ball but was already running full speed. Kyrie was also running full speed and awkwardly tried to box out while they were both running. Just kind of an ugly play and accident.

I respect the hustle but I don't like guy making needlessly reckless plays. I think this was a little reckless of Little. But it Kyrie going into a box out stance that made it ugly. Even if Little had gotten a hand on the ball, he was just going out of bounds with it.

Agreed with that. It's not a bad or dirty play, just an unnecessary one that can lead to needless injury.

No wonder the game has gotten soft... jfc.

Guess you can only hustle for a ball now if another player isn't within 6ft of you.

this is reminiscent of beverly on westbrook though not quite as wreckless

on a scale of wrecklessness this is a 6.5 to beverly's 10

I think unnecessary is kind of the perfect word for it as much as I dislike Kyrie. Hustling is a good thing but what's he even exactly trying to do belly sliding like that at full speed

A 5 point game with 6 minutes remaining. Nassir hustled for the ball. He didn't have a great angle for the dive but why Kyrie was foolishly trying to box him out while also not really committing to hustling for the ball is beyond me. You can't just stand between a dude and the ball and expect him to give it up to you for free. Reckless? Maybe. But Kyrie forced the reckless play by his half-hearted commitment to getting the loose ball.

How should Little gone for the ball then?

Kyrie was trying to "guard" the ball from Little.

I played extremely hard for a long time and respect hustle players but that was a bush league play that should have been made. You never intentionally jump and slide at someone legs like that. Especially with no angle to the ball.

Agree, not dirty but kind of reckless and unnecessary. He had no angle to the ball.

a Little (see what i did there) reckless, but i can't blame nassir. as somebody above said, dude is still trying to establish himself in the league - you gotta do what you gotta do. tough ****, Kyrie - so he has to miss a game for an ankle - dude has chosen to miss most of the games this season regardless. what is one more?
