[BLEACHER REPORT]: Open Willingness From James Harden To Relocate This Summer

Post#1 » by OrangeBlueSkies » Tue Jan 18, 2022 3:54 pm

James Harden may not be committed to the Brooklyn Nets for the long haul.

NBA insider Marc Stein (via Adam Hermann of NBC Sports Philadelphia) reported a move for Harden may not be out of the question for the Philadelphia 76ers because "there is enough noise circulating leaguewide about Harden's reported openness to relocation this summer."

Harden has a $47.4 million player option for 2022-23, so he could opt in with Brooklyn for next season. It seems more likely the nine-time All-Star will prefer to collect a bigger long-term payout since his earning power might be at its apex.

In October, he downplayed the significance of failing to work out an extension with the Nets.

Surprised this hasnt been discussed since yesterday, but could Beard be on his way to another squad this summer?

KD resigned already. He alone will keep that unprotected pick 15 or worst.

Very understandable.

Harden forced his way to Brooklyn because he believe him together with KD and Kyrie would be unstoppable. He is in Brooklyn to win ring(s).

But now there's a problem. The mad flatearther is feeling totally fine being ineligible to play at home. So I guess it just makes sense that Harden is unsure about staying in Brooklyn.

Just an observation. Carry on :usa:

If Lebron was in KD's shoes, he would have traded Kyries ass long ago. That would probably increase the chance to keep Harden happy, as a 3rd All Star who can play at home would increase the chance for a ring

Harden wants to be somewhere warm, it’s that simple.

If he could get to Miami or LA he will do it.

Kyrie situation is 100% the biggest factor. But so much season still left it's a pointless discussion right now.

NYC mandates can change or Nets win a title anyway and this becomes a moot point.

I don't blame him, he probably only has 1 more huge contract left in him.

Morey is clearly fueling these rumors.

I'm not saying theres no chance he leaves. But Morey has been trying to make this happen forever.

If Brooklyn can get Simmons+ from Philly, they should make that trade now.

I'm not sure they're serious contenders without Harden. man this Nets experiment might end so prematurely

One of those picks is already gone, another one comes up this summer and will be late late 20s, and KD alone means next year's swap won't be used. So sure there are two unprotected picks in a few years that might be decent (or might not).

Even if Harden leaves that's two full years of a superstar for a couple of picks down the line. Was a great gamble and they're fine even worst case scenario.

I have no doubt he will get the max either from Nets or someone else, but dear god I would not want to be the GM to sign 33 year old James Harden to a 5 year super max or whatever he is eligible for this summer. He's been great overall the past few years, but there are times watching him where you think he is a big negative to the team. Those bad times are slowly starting to grow IMO.
