I think the time has come for this debate.

To me it's Rose. I think Morant probably jumps higher, but Rose actually was able to finish his dunks in traffic and was even quicker

Two absolute freaks, but prime Rose was more explosive than Ja.

Prime Derrick Rose. He can do anything that Ja Morant can do, in a body that packed power and muscle.

We actually never saw prime D-Rose, but to answer to op`s question it`s close. Derrick is more explosive if you think about it, but for me Ja has better leaping ability.

Derrick Rose found angles that with his violent slashing that Ja never hit.

Derrick Rose was also stronger.

Ja is more graceful and flexible but he's a two footed leaper that needs space like Rose.

Rose. They both seem to defy the laws of physics, but Rose did it just a little more jaw-droppingly.

Prime D-Rose is overrated on RealGM and has turned into a mythical nostalgic legend. Ja is comfortably more athletic.

MVP Rose had more explosion and strength while Morant has a higher vertical leap. It’s close, but I’d pick Rose.

I would have to take Rose as the 2nd most athletic PG. Ja has in my opinion better vertical leap but that's about it. Rose wins on other categories quite easily.

I was thinking the same thing. As a Bulls' fan I saw every Rose game, and he was truly a freak. For me it was his burst-it was like a video game and all of a sudden he would just explode. But Ja is something else-so graceful and his hops are off the charts. I actually enjoy their athletic gifts more than WBrook-who is bigger and also a freak but something a bit clunky about him (and I am not talking about his jumper!)

IMO Rose is the most athletic PG we've ever seen. Ja is up there, I'm really jealous of the Grizzlies for having him. Really wanted the Bulls to move up in that draft

Speed? Prime Rose. I've never seen a quicker player.

I'll just say this... I would've loved to see Rose in a offense that didn't feature bigs who couldn't shoot threes. I believe he was heading towards an efficient 30/10 season. That's why I'll say Rose.

But Ja is incredible. Comparing players from 10 years ago is impossible. With the 3 ball evolution.

This type of conversation makes me cringe given Rose was too athletic for his own body.

Literately the only thing Morant matches with Rose is his leaping ability. Rose was better at everything else from an athletic standpoint.

Morant may not even be better than prime John Wall athletically. He isn't on Rose's or Westbrook's tier as an athlete. Come on now.

Ja can jump higher but Rose was more athletic in every other aspect.

I remember watching Rose in high school and my jaw dropped watching his combination of speed and leaping ability. In high school. Wall left me with the same impression when I first saw him in high school but didn't maintain it like Rose did in the pros.
