Where was Dirk in Jersey sales? Maybe higher because DFW is larger market than Denver.

I Googled it and it seems Dirk was in the lower half of the Top 10 around his MVP year (8 in 07 and 08). I'm not sure he went higher with his Championship.

Dirk's also from Germany so I would expect that translates into at least some advantage over Serbia when it comes to jersey sales.

Ever is hard to say. From 02 to 07 you had a stretch where Duncan, KG, Nash and Dirk became MVP and none of them seem to really be among the top jersey sellers. Besides that you've got the likes of Unseld (69), Cowens (73) and McAdoo (75) who don't seem to be that big in terms of star power during a relatively unpopular time for the league.

I wouldn’t say he’s unpopular, he’s just not whoring himself out on social media like Floyd Mayweather. He’d rather go pet a pony.

If anything being in Denver hurts… if he played for the lakers, knicks or a team that’s more favored by the media (market wise), he’d probably get way more attention.

Jokic's appeal is more cult than broad. He's like Tim and Eric when most MVPs are The Simpsons or Family Guy.

This board isn't a reflection of this, but the mainstream fan watches the game for fancy moves, handles, insane shot-making and dunks. Which Jokic has none of.

If this board is any indication, Americans seem to be very very quick to call each other racist and xenophobic, but honestly, I'm actually quite impressed with how acceptive they are of foreign players.

I mean think about it, the guy came out of nowhere, people never saw him in college, his English is... unusual at best, his culture couldn't be any more different than the American one, he keeps to himself, he disappears in the summer, if he wasn't a top hooper he would basically be a prime target for social isolation. And yet he still made a bunch of fans. I reckon his popularity is actually pretty damn good, considering.

A quick google search showed me that Tim Duncan was 7th in the 2014-2015 season. But, on the other hand, he wasn't in the top 10 sales jerseys from 2003-2013 according to Bleacher Report, so it kinda proves your statement I suppose.

If it based of sales then sure but if based off all star votes he’s getting lot more votes this year

I think you glanced over his 'caucasionness'

All jokes aside, he looks like your average joe, except he's 7ft with insane basketball IQ and a smooth shot. I think that first part makes him more relatable if anything. It also feels as if he skipped media training which gives for his more genuine and spontaneous answers which people like

when did he win?

and no...it was westbrook. judging by realgm anyway

and yes,,,the nba does not like his body-type as the face of the league. if the nba is anything, it's about perception and marketing. that is why it is a major market league
