Most people don't associate Barkley with skills, but this guy was unvelievable. Look at this left handed fadeaway, right there over Hakeem's contest. Chuck was really amazing to watch...

Such a random clip and thread, but I love it.
Barkley was a legit MVP candidate and a beast. 27, 10 and 4-5 with almost 2 steals and a block a game.
I only really started watching ball in his Suns days, but even then he was pretty amazing.

Cool shot.
Yeah, when my all-time list was public and current, my blurb on Barkley began with, "If I hadn't seen him play, I wouldn't believe he was even possible." I actually think his career has usually been overrated, but there's no question he was amazing, entertaining, and one of the best players ever. And his prime had some crazy seasons.

The ironic thing about Charles is that even though he is super anti-analytics, analytics make him look even more of an absolute monster. His scoring efficiency was ridiculous even by today's standards.

How could they not? Guy was under average NBA height (he was actually under 6'5) and fat. What did they think he was relying on to do as well as he did on the court?
Imagine if Barkley was playing in LeBron's body or something, Barkley at 250 looks like he's been living off pizza, LeBron at 280 looks like he could enter a bodybuilding competition. This dude was incredibly skilled.

Barkley was an athletic freak as much as anyone. He was one of the strongest people I've ever seen. His strength seemed superhuman at times. He was also extremely explosive in his younger days. And he's arguably the worst three-point shooter in NBA history. So, yes, he was highly skilled, but the OP is also right that it isn't necessarily what people usually associate with him.

Barkley was overweight late career, but in his peak I don’t think he was. He just had a stocky build with a big base naturally. He was not built like a typical NBA player.

Man, I miss those 90's Suns teams. Barkley was a game changer for the franchise and valley. It's still pretty unbelievable what he was able to do while playing here and astounding the team was able to acquire him in the first place.

since when was Barkley not known for skills.
He was like Lebron athleticism and skills wise... maybe not the dribbling nor passing wise but Barkley was as well rounded, pun intended, as they come, had he been a few inches taller he would have been a better defender down low.

He led the break more for Philly but didn't have the arsenal of moves in his Suns/Rockets days. It was so fun watching him lead the break because he had monster dunks in the fullcourt but he could pass too. Such a talent for his size/strength.

I love how Barkley gets shorter and fatter every time someone talks about him as the years go on. Eventually he will be 5'11, 370 lbs.

Pretty well established he was around 6'4. I've never seen anyone go under that and that's been his height for a long time.

IIRC, Barkley guarded Shaq during Shak's debut.
