Has Ja Morant reached Superstar Status already?
He is gaining a lot of ground in terms of his MVP Ranking. His team is winning games.
He is poised to be an All-Star starter and is one of the top selling jerseys. And his game is made for highlights.
Is he already a Superstar? The first in their franchise history

Yes. He's the best PG in the league right now

Unpopular opinion. CP3 i still the best pure "PG" in the league.
Scoring guards like Curry and Morant should have their own category.

Honestly with today's position less basketball, positions do not mean anything. Luka, Lebron Harden, and even Jokic are just as much of a PG as Morant

Hell no. The only true superstar guards in the past 20 years IMO were Wade, Kobe, peak McGrady, Curry and maybe Harden. That’s it.

Are you trying to say that Lebron is a fake superstar?

Hes playing great but it's too early for me to call him that. I don't even call Anthony Davis a superstar lol.

I think he has, without question. He's easily recognizable (eghm, young Busta Rhymes?), stays on the highlight reel, and could be said to have had legendary performances. When Lillard called him an All-Star, that was in the guy's first year, after Portland bounced them in a play-in game, and his splits were 35/4/8. Unbelievable. There's no such thing if Morant isn't a superstar.

Close but not yet. Has he won a playoff series yet?

i'm all for ja becoming a superstar, but really the truest test is being able to be a superstar in the playoffs. it's when you're always playing the best teams and they're throwing the farm at you to stop you. it's also when players have to impact the game in every facet to help their team win. i know he put up big stats in the 5 playoff games he played last season but i think it's just too soon.
i'd be down to call him a budding superstar and let him earn the chance to take budding out of that title.

purely basketball-wise he's not even close. only been to one playoffs and lost. marketing-wise i imagine he's as attractive as anyone to the sponsors. doesn't quite make him a superstar.

He's getting close if he keeps this up. Needs more of a playoff resume for true superstar status though even though it was pretty big overachievement on Memphis' part last year to even break in. I say not yet, but that could change as early as this playoffs.

Not yet. He has had a breakout season so far but until he has success in the playoffs in some form, I would not say superstar.
In terms of his impact he is 20th in EPM and 39th in Raptor.
He is very good and a lot better than his first 2 years but he has ways to go.

Here's your reminder that Morant was only discovered because a Murray State coach went to the concession stand and saw him playing in an auxiliary gym

it depends on what you mean by superstar. if by that you mean a legit top 15 type player — let's say, LaMarcus Aldridge in his prime/peak—I'd say so. If by superstar, you mean "can go to almost any team and immediately make them a playoff squad" or "can be the best player in an NBA finals and you can win a championship with him as by far your best player" then no. He's in a situation where his team is really well-rounded and he comes in with all-nba impact and they can be really successful. I wouldn't say he's as good as 2018-2021 Dame for instance, but he's better than Devin Booker/peak mike Conley IMO. Guards have been kinda weak this year.

I said yes, but I have a looser definition of Superstar than most.
