Seems like the Sixers solved their point guard problem. Now they just need to trade Ben for a piece that can make them a contender. Tyrese Maxey already looks like a better player than Ben Simmons. If he was starting last year they would’ve beat the Hawks in the playoffs.

Philly looked better in the playoffs with their back-up PGs running the show in previous years, so this is not a surprise.

You just can't play basketball with a non-shooting PG.

If a team trades for Simmons they better start playing him at PF/C in a set offense, otherwise its a waste...

vastly inferior. its just that simmons is a better fit for 29 teams. look at gobert in utah.

He was running the PnR for them in the play-offs and helps Embiid more than Simmons was able to.

No, not close. Maxey is an average to below average starting Point Guard while Ben Simmons was a top 25-30 player in the league.

Maxey is a low level starter without any elite skill.

Simmons, for all his flaws, is an elite defensive player, strong playmaker and great athlete.

Anyone pushing this narrative has an agenda.

Not really close but Maxey has at least made the Sixers decision with Simmons easier: they don't need to acquire a PG and Maxey is a more than capable starting PG

Maxey is a very good starter. Good scoring, high efficiency. Getting better as a playmaker.

But Simmons is better. Maxey is a young improving fringe all star, and Simmons is an established all star.

yes because he is actually playing. Seems to love basketball. And has improved a lot of his one and half season.

no because despite it all Ben is a freak athlete and all world defensively. I love Maxey but he is small and gets destroyed on the defensive end. He can become better but probably is best as a Lou Will type long term.

They never needed a PG just a star for Embiid. The Sixers are bottom in the league in rebounds and are slow. Things Ben can solve.

Definitely not. Maxey will never even begin to approximate what Simmons brings to the defensive end. He's also not nearly as good of a ball-handler or playmaker. He is obviously also hindered from being a good rebounder by his diminutive stature.

He is currently a better scorer and I think he projects to be a far better scorer than Simmons at this point. What's interesting is that Maxey is actually performing better with less usage than last year. I think he can be an above-average combo guard in this league. I have doubts that he can run an offense with the best of them, but I think he can definitely carve out an effective niche for himself as a third or fourth option on a contender. His defense has to get a lot better though.

Simmons never made a play FOR Embiid.. it was always pass to Embiid, and he does the rest.. Maxey is able to make plays for other players in the halfcourt as hes an actual PG.. Ben is a PF/C who can handle and throw no-looks.. hes Lamar Odom but wants to play PG and is upset that the team is over it

We can't really answer this until Simmons becomes a player again.

If Maxey decided to stop playing for the sixers tomorrow they'd bite the hand off anyone prepared to trade him for a 2nd round pick.
