WARNING IN THE OP! NCAA Women's OT: Caitlin Clark 46pts/10ast/3stls crazy logo 3s

So I'm going to start the thread over while the other is being reviewed for bans/strikes. Yes, there is an NCAA Board. But we allow OT topics from time to time and then move the topic to the appropriate forum and leave the topic "shadowed" until it fades away. Yes, this topic is about a phenomenal performance about a women's bball player. If you do not like it or women's bball, cool, that's your prerogative. But do not derail this topic about that or you'll be taking a vacation from the forum.

From Dirk:
this sort of post/comment is inevitable in these sorts of topics. Ideally... we just ignore them, as opposed to feeding them and derailing these topics.

So just ignore it.

Dirk

ellobo wrote:Awesome game by Caitlin Clark in a close road loss to #6 Michigan. 46 points on 29 shots, including two deeeep pullup logo threes in transition, tough stepbacks while double teamed, pullups, and dribble drives. Everything she got was off the dribble creating for herself.

Plus, she also had 10 assists, 3 steals and 4 rebounds.

Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers and a few others are adding a legit pipeline of talent in Women's basketball.

Going to be fun to track them

Incredible player. And incredible shooting.

BUT... it's interesting when we only see the highlights of certain players and certain games. While she had a good shooting day (4th quarter) behind the arc, it's important to note she's only shooting 30% on three pointers for the season.

For those in the know... does she always shoot that many wild contested shots from so deep? If so, we should be ripping her when they miss just as much as we celebrate her when they go in. Because those aren't good shots.

At first quick glance, she kinda looks like Ionescu to me. Well maybe it's simply because they share the same hairstyle.

I'm kinda curious. Who are the top 5 or top 10 women's players right now?

i mean, she shot 41% last season at 10 attempts per game 27ppg, looks like she just had a rough stretch of games early in the season that tanked her %. i doubt they're a super deep team where she can just stop shooting when she's cold and contribute other ways. Iowa aint UConn

Lakers need to give her a 10 day, would be an instant upgrade over Westbrook.

I replied to this in the other thread, but it got lost in the lock.

I haven't seen her play whole games this year, but last year she shot 40.6% from three overall on 9.5 attempts per game, and 41.6% in the Big Ten on the same number of attempts. This year she's only shooting 30.2% on 8.5 attempts overall, and 34% on 7.8 attempts in 12 conference games.

She has the ball in her hands all the time and my guess is that opponents, especially in conference, are selling out to stop her and limit her attempts. You can see in the Michigan game how many defenders they were sending at her. So she has to take some tough unassisted off the dribble shots. Her team was down late and she forced some things to try to bring them back, and she did make it respectably close in the end. She's had double-digit assists in her last two games, and had 17 assists against Penn State (averaging 8.2 apg on the year vs. 7.0 last year in the same average minutes), so she's a willing passer, even if she's forcing some shots.

She's also only 20 years old.

We're looking at potential here as well.

Yeah she has some of the same movements for sure. She's scrawnier looking in the upper body than the sturdy Ionesco but sneakily has a strong base. She also plays with this exaggerated downhill style, it's crazy when she takes a step back because she always looks like she's running at full speed.

Wow, she passes the eye test immediately. Great handle, quick twitch, fast release. I saw the full highlights, that level of carrying the 4th quarter reminded me of Kobe during the dark post shaq era. Buuuuut hey, my college won.

not sure about the seeding/who was expected to win, but that has to be a heartbreaking loss after putting in that type of performance. looks like SHE (not they) cut it to 6 near the end of the game too

Why can't I go into a thread these days without it being totally controlled by mods? Is this not a "discussion" forum where people share their options?

Anyways, this is one of the most cold blooded games by a female I have ever seen. I hope she continues to crush it.
