Meh. I like to pile on the Morris twins, but this looked worse than it actually was because Morant goes 300 mph. Pretty run of the mill foul otherwise.

Morris bro should be ejected the moment they step on the floor every time.

A bit of an unnecessary and reckless play. Glad that Ja is okay.

Normally I defend the defender in these cases, but here it's pretty clear Morris does not go for the ball.

That's the key problem for me. This deserves a flagrant because he doesn't go for the ball. And he probably should have just let him dunk it. Unless he can challenge the ball.

There's not much to defend, but it seems like he intended to jump to contest, you can see him plant both feet to take off, but Ja is already in his area and going past him before he can fully push off the ground, so he aborts half way though. He was not anywhere near quick enough, so he decided to stay down and was just in awful position.

Marcus Morris' reaction time and movement compared to Ja's explosiveness simply failed miserably. Morris has his dumb moments, but this one was more about him just being way too slow to make a proper play but thinking he could get there. It looks bad because Ja is too explosive and Morris couldn't keep up. Certainly not a play one would call malicious intent.

This isn't intentional. People just have their Morris blinders on. Do you realize how quick Morant is? Morris reacted as fast as he could, which is obviously not nearly fast enough. He tried to stop a dunk, was probably going for the ball but was wayyyyyyy too slow. Doesn't matter what the score is, you can't let the guy dunk. We see fouls on dunks all the time, just not from a guy as slow as Morris against a guy as quick as Morant.

Edit: what poster above me said.

**** Morris first and foremost. I don't think this was intentional though, just pure clumsiness on his Part

I don't like the Morris twins, but this doesn't deserve such an overreaction. With how Ja flies across the court and through the air with reckless abandonment for his own safety (not that I'm blaming him, just pointing out the way he plays) things like this will happen here and there. All Morris really did was stick an arm up in the spot where the ball was just milliseconds before Ja rose up with it.

The score is irrelevant, Clippers have come back from a couple of big deficits this season where the game looked over, and they didn't do it by taking plays off. Morris simply thought he was a lot quicker and more athletic than he actually is or forgot how quick, fast and explosive Morant is.

I mean I guess that's one way to interpret it.

I can also interpret it as he knew he had no chance of contesting the shot so he took a cheap shot towards the guys' face...

Again, I think Morris knew he couldn't get to the ball so he went for the body instead, which is not a basketball play imo

If you watch it in slow motion, it looks like Morris gives up on going for the ball and goes for the face instead. Instead of trying to go vertical to meet the ball, he goes for Morant's face

Notice he also puts his left hand on Morant's body:

Weird how he always "forgets" what impact his "moves" have...

It was definitely reckless and unnecessary. Don't have an issue with this being called a flagrant 2.

It looks pretty intentional to me, he purposely hit him in the face. It is plays like this that led to the intentional foul rules.
