OT: Juwan Howard throws "punch"; Suspended for remainder of season

I wouldn't consider it a punch, but it was still uncalled for and legitimately started a skirmish. As we all know, those could easily turn into something much more ominous.

His team got wrecked. He got upset over a late timeout. He way overreacted. I expect a long suspension for sure, but this mixed with his poor performance this year...he may not survive this at Michigan.

Both coaches are bush league. Howard takes it to another level though throwing the "punch". Dude youre the coach, keep your calm. By doing that he completely escalated the situation to a full out scrum.

Howard and that team have had a very rough year and it seems like it is getting to him.

not a closed fist but for all intents and purposes it was a "punch".

and yeah, i've always thought it was a bad move by coaches to worked up. getting a tech by questioning a ref's call is one thing but losing is your cool is another. you're leading the team, how can you expect your players to keep their composure if you can't?

it's even worse in the ncaa though because you're influencing 18-22 year olds.

They did make the Final Four last year. So I think that may buy him some grace with the school, plus his long history with them as well. I think a long suspension is the more likely outcome.

Wisconsin’s players are insufferable. Howard shouldn’t have slapped the assistant but he wouldn’t be the first guy who wanted to do that.

You just cant do that as a coach and especially at the college level. Part of the job is teaching the young guys how to act in these kinds of situations. Im not the biggest Coach K guy over the last decade. But take him for instance, 2 weeks ago Wendell Moore got tackled mid air while he went up for a dunk. Things got heated real quick. What did K do, gave the player that tackled Moore a hug.

Youre the coach, you cant be escalating the situation by doing this crap.
