Would love to see this guy playing in meaningful games. Looks like the status quo will continue for at least a few more years though.

Do the Wizards to sign him to this supermax? You're basically stuck with a Beal/Porzingis core, that doesn't look great to me.
Last three seasons, Beal has played 57, 62 and 40 games. We all know Kristaps' injury history. i think this is a recipe for disaster.

Both beal and the wizards are tripping.

I guess beal less cause it’s hard to say no to that type of money.

They will, but they shouldn't.

Why is he "admitting" this? Why isn't he "reporting", or "planning", or "assessing", or "deciding"?

To me Dame is WAY worse. I believe that both Beal and Lillard want to stay with the teams that drafted them, and I totally respect that. Beal's name has come up lots of times in trade rumors, but he has always shot them down. This contract - if he gets it - is an acknowledgement of his loyalty. I get that.

Dame, however, came back from the Olympics talking big about how he wanted to win...was making comments that were very equivocal about Portland's ability to build the team that could compete for a title. You got the sense that the door was drifting open...until the 2 year, $104m extension got floated out there through "sources".

Dame talked a big game about wanting to win a championship...but it still came back to "grabbing the bag."

I think hes scared of getting exposed if he changes teams. He knows hes the man on the Wiz, but if he goes elsewhere he might have to play second or third fiddle
Sadly the wizards are gonna be held hostage by his gargantuan contract, its diminishing returns at this point. They should really move on with the youth movement
Theyre crazy if tney give him the supermax 246/5. Hes not Jokic

WHY THE FERK CANT GUYS ON HERE ACCEPT THAT BEAL MIGHT ACTUALLY LIKE WARSHINGTON???!!!

There's more to life than hoops (so some say). Is not possible that he: likes his kids' teachers? His wife has a circle of friends there? His hairstylist is a phone call away? His neigbors throw good parties, etc.,

dude can get paid wherever he goes. Maybe he likes management (shout out Tommy S.) or maybe he likes the locale

At the end of the day, can't blame these dudes for getting that bag. Beal will probably get that 5/246M extension and then get a trade to wherever he wants to go when it inevitably doesn't work out. With KP, your more likely to find Caspar the ghost than you are to find the unicorn on the court

As for Dame, well who knows he's on board with what Portland is doing and if it doesn't work out they'll send him wherever he wants to go. Honestly as long as he's ok with Portland's plan he'll go with it for now. In the end it takes 2 to tango and you can't force a trade if there isn't one to be made.

As long as both players like where they are at and are content, I don't see why it has to be a huge deal anyways.

It's even worse cause they literally just went through this with wall. They should just start the rebuild at this point.

Beal is taking the Carmelo Anthony route.

He's playing basketball for the money, not to win a championship.

Priorities I guess, I couldn't turn down 250 million if I had kids to take care of.

Sorry bro, I ain't sticking on no crappy team that ruins my chances of basketball immortality if I am an allstar caliber player because my wife and kids like Washington DC.

No, no, no, I am staying for the money.

250 million or a ring, I don't care about no friends, wife and kids being happy. I only got one shot at greatness, we can get some new friends, new teachers, and a new lifestyle after.

don't get why you would choose to use "admit" ... doesn't seem like the right choice

I really do not understand people. If a player asked to be traded he's killed. If a player chooses to stay he killed. What do you people want?
