2021-22 NBA MVP Discussion (Pt.3)

Part 2 is about to be 100 pages, so starting thread #3 for the final few weeks of the season.
Who's your pick for MVP? Roughly a dozen games left to decide it.
Note: I picked the 10 favorites (Vegas odds) and added them in alphabetical order - if you don't see your player here, it's because they're a massive longshot (300:1 odds or higher) and Realgm only allows 10 poll options.

Nuggets have a far easier schedule to close out the year though.
After tonight, games against top 5 seed in either conference
Nuggets face:
Suns
Grizzlies
Wolves face:
Mavs 2x
Suns
Celtics
Bulls
If the Wolves get the 6 seed, they'll have truly earned it.
If they beat the Mavs twice though, they could actually put the Nuggets over the Mavs.

It’s Embiid’s to lose.

Denver can seriously fall 7th.
Sixers will finish 3rd at worst(i have boston as 2nd now).
Bucks will tank(?) to face Chicago in the playoffs.
Which means Embiid will win.
On a side note if Tatum didn't start so bad, maybe we could be having another convo now. Oh well.

Same thing could be said about Luka, if he didn't have a bad start to his season, he's prob the frontrunner for MVP right now.
Re: the Nuggets falling to 7th, if that happens, Wolves will have earned it.
Nuggets only face two more top-5 teams (in either conference) for the rest of season - Suns and Grizz
Wolves face Mavs (2x), Suns, Celtics, Bulls
Ideally Wolves beat the Mavs twice and lose to the rest

I don't think the Bucks will tank. They faced Miami first round last year after what happened the year before.
I do expect the Bucks to lose some but not due to tanking they will a) rest players a bit to prepare b) reintegrate all the injured guys coming back like Lopez and Connaughton and focus on getting them play off ready over winning.
I agree Embiid will win, I don't think he deserves it. In my mind he's third,
Jokic should win it and Giannis should be second.

I couldn’t even imagine this race if the Mavs and Celtics were playing like this from the beginning.

The Nuggets have similar record against .500 teams and above with the Lakers by the way.
The Bucks don't tank. We were actually seeking Miami last season just to get revenge. It was on our hands till the end and we played the full team just to win and get them in the 1st round but I think we will end up with a worse seed the the Sixers because we still have a tough schedule.
It's Embiid's to lose.

The Nuggets (with Jokic) are 15-18 against .500+ teams, with 7 of those losses being Utah/Memphis who have had their number this year.
They're pretty good against every other contender when Jokic plays this year.
Not sure how much more is to be expected when you're missing two 20ppg starters.

Their huge nights were happening on the same night as well a couple times.

Shoutout to the lone voter for Tatum, but nah our boy not making it.
It's only either Embiid, Jokic, and Giannis. Just gonna sit back and enjoy the rest of the season with these 3 monsters.

If NBA.com has already updated then we now have 3 players tied on 29.8 points per game with 11 to 12 (Embiid) games remaining. Talk about a tight race for the scoring leader.

Joel Embiid has now shot under 35% in 4 of his last 8 games. Giannis has done that 3 times this season.

nuggets falling to 7th, sixers losing games, even curry missing the end of the season
i think giannis could sneak in and get the mvp despite the while year being about other players narratives

Pretty sad that Booker is not being considered by most here. Disappointing to see so many focused on advanced stats they don’t fully understand over rewarding the best player on phx who are doing something special as a team. Everyone forgets this isn’t the best player award.
I really thought Giannis would get his **** together and solidify the mvp but Phx still has a 14 game lead

I have Giannis as the front runner at the moment.

Bucks haven't chased the #1 seed in 2 seasons and have Lopez, Hill and Connaughton to get back into the side. That'll be their priority. Plus resting guys leading in. Not saying its the right strategy but its the way they've operated.
