Embiid the Only Player in NBA History to have Career Average of 30ppg Per 36mins
This came as a shock to me, and it’s obviously very impressive. He’s also the only center to average 30 in under 40mpg for a season, also shocking. Is he far away the best per minute scorer ever??

My man, Hussien
Lets leave career average for when career is done. He hasnt played many minutes so far in his career. But Embiid is doing great. He is on the right track for sure. I think his best stat this season is how much he played. Hope he continues with that trend as he is a beast.

How can anybody not remember that Wilt Chamberlain average 50 points for a season? He averaged over a point per minute that season. More than Embiid this season.

Wilt unsurprisingly also average more points per minute than Embiid at the same stage of his career.

In reality it's a very impressive stat but you have a target on your back OP

Considering you have the most time spent tracking Embiid stats per 60 minutes, I somehow doubt this “came as a shock to you”.
Another fun stat is of all players, regardless of position, to score 25+ppg, he has the highest % of points from free throw line. This is all players to have stepped on an NBA court, ever.
I guess when you couple poor referees with a big man with significant balance issues (or flopping, whichever you choose to believe), it’s not surprising

Re: Embiid the Only Player in NBA History to have Career Average of 30ppg Per 36mins
To be fair to Wilt we're comparing Embiid's first 8 years (he didn't play the first 2, so really 6 NBA seasons and age 27) to Wilt's *ENTIRE* career.
If you look at Wilt's first 6 seasons
6 NBA seasons. 31.1 pts per 36 minutes (40.6 PPG on 47MPG)
So both players with 6 NBA seasons played were averaging better than 30 PPG per 36.
Jordan was also at 30.3 per 36 minutes after 6 NBA seasons.

So clearly this is false, unless OP literally means 30 per 36 such that anyone who averages more than that is disqualified…

Embiid is definitely a great scorer. Gets a lot from the free throw. Jumper has been good.

I don't even need to use google to tell you this is false.

I don’t understand. Wilt averaged 30.1 points for his entire career.
To the OP, does Wilt not make the cut because he played over 40 min a game?

The thing is we know Embiid can't hold up for 36 mpg in 82+ games a season.
He not built like that.

Re: Embiid the Only Player in NBA History to have Career Average of 30ppg Per 36mins
Well before we jump there let's try to remember everybody else's career had also included when they passed their prime...
Who knows how what lows he may or may not hit on the decline and how those numbers will be affected but of course Embiid is easily one of the best talents EVER at the C position. Unfortunately for him I don't think he's winning a chip and his legacy will be as great as it should be and I don't blame him for it is the sad part but Ben was never it & I don't believe in Harden....
Likewise I doubt Embiid can keep healthy by the time they're off of Harden's soon to be record breakingly awful contract that it'll become. He really feels like a big man that should at least have a Hakeem like career (couple of rings or so) but I think it's gonna sadly end like Ewing's unless he ironically (like Ben & Harden) can force his way out.

Embiid dodged his first two seasons, which normally drag numbers down.
Also should use "half" career average. He and Frigging Wiggins were drafted at the same time, and now Wiggins has played twice amount of the total minutes on the court (20935min over 598 games vs. 10240min over 328 games).

Re: Embiid the Only Player in NBA History to have Career Average of 30ppg Per 36mins
It is very impressive.
I suspect that it won't stay there for the reason that others have mentioned: The downward end of players career tend to lower players scoring numbers. He did have an advantage over other recent scorers though in that with the first two years of his career being out injured, he debuted more fully formed than players who were younger and hadn't been with an NBA program for two years. Worries about his health also have meant that the 76ers are careful with his minutes/games and that helps keep his per 36 numbers up. So while I don't think he'll probably be able to maintain it for his career, he has as good a chance as anyone.
Edit: Other fun fact, after 10240 minutes and 8535 points in the regular season, Embiid is exactly 2 points above this line. If he's have scored one bucket less, he'd be below it. It's kind of cool.

That is pretty damn impressive - for a part time player in his prime.

Re: Embiid the Only Player in NBA History to have Career Average of 30ppg Per 36mins
I am happy for Embiid that he won the scoring title. He won't win the MVP - his play trailed off in March/April, and he had some high-profile losses that voters will obviously remember (I think his MVP bid ended when GIannis blocked his shot at the end of their game a couple of weeks ago). He still had a great season, though, and when players like KD come out and say that Embiid should be the MVP, I will take his word over a bunch of guys who watch the game for a living.
Still, the first center to win the scoring title since Shaq is pretty impressive. I hope that he channels his disappointment in not winning the MVP into having a great playoff run.

Will you take his word that he led the league in double doubles too?
