Yep. This was predictable after the Game 3 loss. He's confirmed that he is healthy enough to play. He just doesn't want to play when the odds are against him. This is who he is.

Imagine fighting a war and your side is getting pummeled. Your compatriots are dropping like flies. However, you know there is hope because you were told a large battalion of reinforcements is coming. Finally, when it looks like all is lost, you see the reinforcements marching over the hill. You take out your telescope and you see General Simmons. He has his own telescope out surveying the scene and all the dead bodies on your side. You start frantically waving him over. You can still win this war yet! Wait, General Simmons? General Simmons? Where are you taking the reinforcements? You're marching in the wrong direction! You look back at the battleground with utter despair. You've been abandoned by a coward. Looking left and right at your soldiers, you run into the hopeless situation knowing full well you'll succumb to the enemy but you do it anyway because you are honor-bound to protect your people. Unlike General Simmons.

Yikes, that back injury he suffered must have been a lot worse than first thought.

Pathetic.

A part of me wishes that Harden wouldn't have wanted out of Brooklyn and that Simmons got traded to Sacramento or some other small market.

Why does everything this guy does feel so calculated?

Now you don't want to come back so you're not blamed for helping avert a sweep or something?

I don't care who it is, there's no reason for any player to miss an entire season then come back and play in game 4 of the first round of the Playoffs when his team is down 3-0.

I don't think I've ever seen an NBA player who wants to play less in the NBA than this guy. He wants his money, but he sure doesn't seem to want to earn it.

I don't know what is more hurt at this point, his back or is overal image as a player and human. (faking mental illness to milk money).

I remember watching Ben's summer league games and being impressed by him. I thought he would be at the very least a homeless mans LBJ.

Never would I have imagined his career playing out this way, and it seems the best (worst) is yet to come.

I'm honestly starting to wonder if he or Zion will ever play a meaningful amount of time again.

Yeah I was very high on him as well. Dude's work ethic sucks and is a terrible pro.

I disagree. If you can play, you do anything you can to help your team win. It's a best of 7 series, not best of 5. They have a chance to change the balance by adding back someone with all-star talent. He's a healthy scratch in the most important game of the year. And getting paid an absurd amount of money for it.

To be fair, his talent was and is ridiculous, and while there were rumors about him having suspect attitude, no one could have predicted him being THIS bad when it comes to attitude and work ethic.

Yeah, other than like pride in your craft.

But things like pride, hard work, desire, professionalism, etc. all don't really apply to this clown.

I don't know what kind of help he could bring. I know it is fun for people to dogpile on Simmons but he's missed the entire season up to this point. What kind of help could he possibly be? Sounds smarter to hold him off and play him next season when he's healthy and integrated into the team.
