Monty Williams hilariously cries about the refs

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Mon Apr 25, 2022 1:26 pm

“Coaches shouldn’t have to come up to the microphone and feel like they’re going to get their heads cut off for speaking the truth,” the Suns coach said postgame. “It was 17-to-2 (free throw difference) in the first half. And then they end up with 42.

“That’s hard to do in a game like that,” Williams said. “And it’s not like we don’t attack the basket.”

Feels like there's been more talk about the refs and Ben Simmons than actual basketball this past weekend. Which is a shame because this has been one of the more compelling 1st rounds I've seen in a long time

The Suns don’t have any legitimate gripe if the refs are doing this to the Pels. The Pelicans just play better defense without fouling and flopping.

The NBA is doing everything they can to push CJ McCollum and Jonas Valanciunas for marketing reasons, as they have for years. Absolutely disgusting

It was pretty fair despite the discrepancy.

It was really just how the Suns were playing and how the Pels were playing. Pels were kind of letting things go in the Paint and not fouling, hence the huge amount of points Suns got in the paint. Suns also shot a lot more jumpers and 3s than Pels.

They actually let a lot of things go. I saw some people on twitter commenting that the Suns probably should have at 5-6 more backcourt violations than they did, with receipts.

I do expect the game to be officiated...very differently in game 5 in Phoenix.

It would have been bigger if Crowders flops weren't rewarded. including 2 3pt drawn fouls on absolute bricks with him jumping into contact..

FT discrepancy in itself is not proof of bias.

Game 3 Hayes who was a game changer for Pels game 2, was fouled out for an intentional shove, Suns had their biggest run of the game off that call to end the half.

Game 4 Paul after an altercation with Herb gives him a head shot with intent & he was too important in a still winnable game to foul out.

The team working the refs & shamelessly flopping to draw fouls, are the ones crying about the refs. Monty trying to gin up some home cooking for game 5.

The officiating for this entire series has been an outright joke.

The Suns are at the bottom of the league for getting to the line so it's nothing new there. Without Booker, they don't attack the paint in a way they draw much contact.
The biggest gripe I had yesterday was this one being missed. I can't tell if it was in part a flop or if it was a full-on push (if it was the latter, then it's a flagrant 2). But the fact a call wasn't made on this one, with the ref staring at them, was odd

Everyone thinks their officiating is a joke. The Memphis coach was bitching because they weren't out-FTing the Wolves for the first time a day or two ago.

It's gamesmanship. I only hope it doesn't work and the refs call the best game they can.

Reffing has been a joke all series long. Like the flagrant 2 that was almost not called until Crowder drew attention to it and ended up getting a technical foul himself.

Ref is standing 5 feet away from Hayes and Crowder and doesn't blow the whistle as there is nothing to see here obviously.

If you've been watching the series, you'd see it's been wholly one sided as far as whistles are concerned. This has nothing at all to do with "gamesmanship". If it were, it would at least be somewhat closer than what it is in terms of FT attempts or calls in general. It's nowhere near that.

The Suns are primarily a jump shooting team and don't draw a lot of calls because of it; however, they've been more aggressive in going to the basket yet, get hammered, and still don't get a call. On the other end? Someone stares too long at a player and it's an instant trip to the line.

The league needs to get their house in order. These current officials are bad. Like next level bad.
