Is Deandre Ayton the best player remaining that nobody talks about?

He’s averaging 21/11 on 69% FG and 80% Ft. If you catch him at the right time he looks like a poor man’s Admiral. I think another under the radar guy is OG Anunoby that has a huge impact.

He's super underwhelming as a player. He had 1 outlier game that bumped up his averages.

He could be.

I just know that if the Suns don't extend him, it's gonna be a huge mistake. There hasn't been a player that moves as smoothly (as a center) as him on offense in a lot of years. And given what I've seen from Doncic and Brunson, having correct footwork is at least 50% of the job on offense. What I would give to have Ayton on the Mavs...

last playoffs he played like a top 15 guy in the playoffs until the Suns met Giannis, then he struggled but also a bit of it was that the Suns didn't have a guy like McGee or Biyombo to throw into the mix when Ayton got early fouls.

This playoffs he looks to be repeating the same thing, the "Jamal Murray" special, a guy who is solid in the regular season but has another gear in the playoffs. Even then this regular season he was great too and he only projects upwards. Part of me desperately wishes a team like the Spurs offers Ayton a max and the Suns don't match just because if he gets to have one or two years under Pop before retiring and he gets to team up with someone like Dejounte Murray who's already a great two way guard, it could be a very scary beginning of something special for San Antonio after their recent struggles.

He's due for an extension so this off-season expect the media to talk about him non-stop.

Reggie is saying pay this man on national TV and some people have him on All-NBA ballots.

I think he’s talked about enough a-plenty

Ayton gets the Klay treatment in that you don't hear anything about them when they underperform. It's the luxury of being your team's third best player.

But, is he really the teams third best player? How would the frontcourt be without Ayton?

Yes it’s a good point how come no one talks about a 6’11 center dropping 21/12 on great efficiency in the playoffs.

I think so, Booker and Paul still have the edge and I wouldn't rank Bridges above him

19/9 for a 7fter who's maybe the 3rd best player on his team. Can't stretch the floor and is a slightly above average defender.

He's adequately appreciated for what he is. He's just another guy that nobody will remember in 10 years.

Ayton has been really good. His mid-range jumper almost always seems to go in, even when contested by another big. (He has cooked Valanciunas for most of this series, and Nance hasn't fared much better either.) He's delivered some neat and unexpected passes to teammates for wide open shots. He has also made some timely defensive plays as well. Really huge impact for the Suns so far this postseason, just like last year.

Anunoby has been huge for the Raptors against the Sixers, particularly on defense, but he has also stepped up offensively when the Raptors needed it. He's always been someone who showed out in the playoffs since his rookie season, but this postseason he's doing things he hasn't done before, like successfully scoring in isolation multiple times and being a primary playmaker at times.

cant stretch the floor? his midrange is top notch and he is starting to shoot 3s now.

Yeah just about to say that. He absolutely can stretch the floor, he commands immediate attention and closeouts from midrange in, which is stretching the floor for a center. He doesnt clog the lane and just stand on the block.
