What happened to Duncan Robinson?

He played 79 games in the regular season, 68 times as a starter. Then he got demoted to a bench role in late March. Overall he averaged 26 minutes per game.
But now he's getting DNPs in the playoffs? Damn! That's a super expensive bench warmer.
I will say this though. I don't think Max Strus is better than him. Both shoot lots of threes and bad on defense. However I believe Robinson is the better shooter.
Duncan Robinson playoffs game log:
Game 1 vs Hawks - 22:51 minutes
Game 2 vs Hawks - 6:40 minutes
Game 3 vs Hawks - 14:23 minutes
Game 4 vs Hawks - 9:21 minutes
Game 5 vs Hawks - 12:29 minutes
Game 1 vs 76ers - DNP
Game 2 vs 76ers - 0:55 minutes
Game 3 vs 76ers - DNP

Dunno but somehow I doubt he'd shoot as low as 33% on 9 attempts/29 mins a game is getting in the playoffs.

Strus is a much better defender and finisher than Duncan Robinson and they don’t run the offense through him anymore. The heat have so many weapons, they don’t want to have Duncan on the floor getting exploited for fouls by harden and blown by because of maxey.
Duncan is still a very good player and has improved at doing things other than his 3 point game though. It’s more so the things around him than himself

They can’t afford any defensive liabilities since it gives Philly their only source of reliable offense. They only let Herro play because their offense looks like a trainwreck when he’s not out there.

The Heat are great at developing undrafted overachievers... but they usually trade them before they get paid and exposed.

What weapons? Their offense isn't good and is easy to stop in playoffs. They badly need more scoring

Duncan Robinson is almost identical to Davis bartans in terms of contractor and shooting. And defense
Bartans is barely playing as well. Only difference is Miami is deeper bench and herro duplicates a lot what Robinson does but handles the ball much better.
All these sharp shooters go through bad shooting stretches.
But in the playoffs. Most of these guys are poor defenders. And will get targeted. That’s why 3 and D defenders even again ones like Danny Green are more valuable and playable on the playoffs. And that’s why Robert Covington who’s a little younger can still command 12 million.
I do think if herro wasn’t playing. Robinson would get at least 10-12 min in for offense.

Spoelstra knows that Philly will hunt Duncan so he’s trying to get Oladipo up to speed. He’s playing Oladipo and PJ Tucker on Harden. This works fine on offense against a bad defensive team like the Hawks or Embiid-less 76ers. Not so much with Embiid in the game though, as only Butler is better than his man.
Interesting to see if Spoelstra adjusts.

Sounds harsh, but honestly I think Robinson was just bubble-inflated guy. Shooting crazy %'s in gyms with no fans.

His career shooting percentages are higher than his bubble percentages, but thanks for the theory.

A few things.
He's an excellent shooter but has had a subpar season shooting the rock. Which is his only real skill. He's not a very good defender (although I do think that's a bit overblown because refs seem to hate Duncan and he can do a good job one on one) and playing him together with Herro has been a disaster. Obviously Tyler brings more to the table than Duncan does.
The Heat are rolling with Strus because Strus is confident, shoots about the same percentages, has an off the dribble game and is miles better on defense. The only real problem is that Strus against the sixers hasn't been hitting his shots.

Everyone in here is acting like he got overpaid, when in reality he's making the same sharpshooter salary as other players who have also been benched (like Davis).
As to the topic, as many others have said, he's a liability on defense, and Struss not only has a better stroke right now, but he can do a bit more than Duncan can.

I don't think he was a bubble inflated guy but I do think he was overpaid. He was basically out of the league and now he is getting dedicated role player money. He was never gonna be more than a cute story.

Yeah defense is the reason, but I bet he'll get another shot in these playoffs.
His shooting can open up stuff for Jimmy & Bam.

Heat fan here who religiously watches all of our games.
Duncan can't defend a lick and can't shoot open threes all year.
He'll give you once in a blue moon hot shooting then reverts back to being useless since he can't defend anyone.
TLDR: Can't defend and can't shoot 3s consistently anymore.
