I always had a hard time figuring out why the Suns were so good, but every time I watched them this season they played fantastic. Too bad they went out with the worst performance of the year. Unfortunately, I think they missed their championship window now.

Could we possibly see another Dallas/Miami finals? Warriors looked vulnerable against a very young Griz and the heat have the defense and shooting to punish the Celtics.

If you really think the Mavs are going to beat the Warriors then recency bias is your daddy

Their biggest concern would probably be their shooters reverting to the mean. Everyone will think they just suck, but it's not going to be easy to get this combined role player 3PT% in a second series:

Bullock: 37.5%
Dinwiddie: 51.6%
Finney-Smith: 45.0%
Kleber: 46.4%
Bertans: 47.8%

That's going to be tough to replicate in a second series, so the question becomes if Dallas can defend GS well enough to not need that much shooting to win.

Their defense on the Suns was double Booker, pressure Paul, put a big defender on him and then send another defender on pick and rolls. Suns third playmaker is Payne, but he's small and he was struggling in the series, so playing him would be tough. That's the counter to the defense. Mavs for example have Dinwiddie, but also have more shooting than the Suns, the Suns were not a volume or special 3PT shooting team. So certainly the strategy vs the Warriors will not be the same.

Since it worked so well with the Suns I think Mavs continue to attack the guards with Luka and Brunson and see if Steph and Poole can guard them 1 on 1 or see if GSW throw the double team at them and hope they can continue the hot 3pt shooting.

I think having Draymond is however more beneficial since Mavs don't have a traditional center so Draymond isn't about to get bodied up by a traditional big man, Ayton got cooked on the perimeter and Draymond is a bit faster on his feet I feel so the Mavs guards won't have as easy of a time launching threes on him.

Definitely still go to it, but you just can't expect your shooters to consistently hit 45% from 3PT range combined. It could happen again, but even on good looks, it's just tough for that to consistently happen among 5 players with like 170+ attempts

Another crazy stat. The Warriors have won their last SEVENTEEN Western Conference Playoff Series. The last time they lost was to the Clippers in 2014. In 7.

Warriors for sure favs. The difference is, both Steph and Klay are clearly 1 or multiple levels below their previous standards.

Shoutout to you man, most Mavs fans (me included) didn't see them advancing, you called it from the get go, and doubled down when it was 2-0.

Wiggins has the quickness and the size to stay in front of him.
He guarded Morant if we talking about quickness, and he guarded in many occassions Jokic if we talk about strength.
Doncic has all the talent and the moves but I think Wiggins will stay close to him

It doesn't matter. Quickness and strength has zero to do with it. Luka doesn't drive like other NBA players. He has a counter for every counter, and manipulates the PnR to get the best matchup. Wiggins isn't a patch of the defender Kawhi, George or Bridges are. Luka will gladly hunt Wiggins and take his lunch, but he's more likely to hunt Steph.

Warriors might sweep the Mavs. Mavs got no bigs, that's like the best case scenario for them. Only teams that could beat the GSW are Bucks (if healthy) and Celtics (due to Horford and Williams)

Warriors will sweep the Mavs the same way the Suns were supposed to sweep them? The Suns were far and away the worst matchup for the Mavs in the whole playoffs. Warriors will still be favs, but this is absolutely a better matchup for the Mavs than the Suns.

Kidd smart enough to know you don’t try to win a shootout - you hold them to 27 in a half… the sizzle is Luka but the steak is legit shut down defense.

Don’t want to hear how the suns didn’t perform well… give the victors the credit for holding the suns to 27 with a 2 guard that scored 70 and the point god who made 14 shots consecutively and have the under appreciated number 1 pick and clear best big man in the series… and Kidd got the mavs to hold them to 27… twenty seven. Mid 40s I've been around. I was watching Mavs games back when Aguirre, Harper, Blackman.

My post might be a bit knee jerk, as a child I had Jordan posters on my wall that resonate with me. But that smile directed at Booker was just absolutely perfect. From the 2011 Finals I don't recall a singular image that encapsulate a series like that.
