Undisputed best player in the league
How many player we can say were at some point of their careers considered the best (almost) unanimously (no Hickman BS, you always find contrarians)
Mikan
Russell
Alcindor
jordon
LeBron
I think are pretty clear
I think we can add Shaq e maybe even Hakeem.
Not an expert if the 50s, maybe Pettit?
There was some incredible hype for Duncan in 1999, I remember, does it count?

LeBron never actually did unless we are willing to say Steph proved he was better than LeBron in 2015.

Re: Undisputed best player in the league
Kobe was "almost" unanimously considered the best player in the world for multiple years by players, coaches, and GM's.
”I’ve been quoted millions of times saying Kobe is the best player in our league for the last five years,” James said. ”He hasn’t received the MVP. This is his year I think.” (2008)

Lebron James says Kobe Bryant is the best player in the league on 60 min(2009)
After his peak, when he was 30 and LeBron was 24, a majority of NBA GM's still ranked Kobe as #1:
"Of 19 NBA general managers who weighed in on the "who's better" debate, Kobe Bryant, right, was selected by a 12-7 margin over LeBron James."

Unanimous only applies to one player in NBA history. Kind of odd not to include him. Your definition in the first post also says "point in time" not an entire season.

Just because you win a title doesn't mean you have the best player in the NBA. Especially when the 2015 finals had Lebron almost doubling the output of Curry. Or should we just say Iguadola was the best player in 2015 lol.

Sorry to break it to you but Kobe was never the best player in the NBA for any season. Shaq/Duncan/LeBron took that title during his time.
Heck, even Wade had a year of two of dominating and it's debatable if he was ever the best player in the NBA at any point.

I don't think Russell belongs in the conversation. Once Wilt was in the nba there is no way it was unanimous that Russell was the best player. The 3 years that Russell was in the league before Wilt joined you had Bob Petit right there with Russell as the top player.

That sounds like your opinion.
Notice I didn't include "fans" in my first post, since fans cannot be trusted to give any reliable opinion. They're the most biased, least educated group around.
But if you were an avid NBA fan throughout 2000-2010 you knew for at least ~3 years or so that there was an almost "unanimous" belief among NBA players, coaches, GM's etc. that Kobe Bryant was the best player in the world.
You think LeBron was the only one saying it?
Just go look up old articles. I literally gave you a USA Today poll of GM's who voted Kobe as the best player (after his peak years) and you think that means nothing? lol.

I will always put what is determined on the floor over what is determined off of it. In a team game one cannot only factor in individual numbers to determine the best player. Team impact matters. When your team is also setting records left and right and none of the other players are a plausible reason for those records then that makes for a compelling case.

Using the team argument sometimes isn't fair because not everyone's team is made equal so you shouldn't hold it against a player if their teams management is inept.
Curry definitely had a case during those years so I won't argue too much there. It definitely wasn't undisputed though.
Lebron was the better individual player but Curry was getting a lot of good arguments because of the team success he was achieving. That's where the whole "gravity" thing arose from.

Kobe was the alpha on Team USA and a lot of his peers respected the hell of of him. Most of them were huge Kobe fans growing up so you're not going to hear much bad said against him.
By 2008, Lebron was already coming off a year where he carried his turd of a supporting cast to the finals. He already had the title as the best player in the league that he's only given up the past year or so.
