No, other guys are simply better. But I think he's firmly establishing himself as someone in the tier of players who are capable of being the best player on a championship contender. And fortunately for him, he's one of the lucky players in that tier who has the supporting pieces around him.

I disagree a bit on both statements, but this is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much more reasonable and is just a flat out reasonable take vs OP!

It's all about his consistency on offense in terms of mentality. It was just several months ago we were talking about how passive Tatum is on offense and just settling on his jumpers too much instead of using his size to attack the paint. We saw the same thing in a few games even in this series. Especially game 4 where Horford played his career game to hold on to series. The Tatum we saw the last 2 games is based top 10 and serious top 5 candidate. His defense is on his side to strengthen his claim for top 5 but when you being compared to guys like Lebron, KD, Curry, Giannis, Embiid, Jokic, Luka etc. you have to do really extra stuffs on offense to catch up like he did in games 6&7

Yes, he is. His combination of scoring AND defense make him a guy who will get under valued. But yeah he's awesome and a clear top 10 guy. I'd have him about 7 without thinking too hard. And he's got a HELL of a team of great guys around him!

He's 2-3 years away from that IMO.

This is very fair criticism. Tatum isn't held down in player rankings as much for what he isn't capable of as much as he's held by the lack of consistency he does what he is capable of.

He's approaching superstar status.

I like that his passing/playmaking has developed.

Still think he's a bit overly reliant on difficult shots, buts it's very impressive when he's hitting.

Yea he doesn’t have any MVP awards yet but he could get the OTHER MVP award that some of the leagues other superstars don’t have if Celtics win the title.

Did they play horse? Why people keep doing this crap? Do you work for Skip?

Well, Tatum did severely outplay KD throughout the series, and he was also his primary defender. But a lot of other Celtics chipped in on D.

The reason Giannis is great is because he has been the last man standing....Tatum on that road right now

Nah. Celtics beat Middletonless Bucks. And it took them 7 Games! Healthy Heat can beat them in ECF.

I love JT, and I'm a diehard Celtics fan, but Luka Doncic is going to be the best player in the world for a looonnnnggg time.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

He just beat KD and Giannis

Giannis literally outplayed him and was the best player in the series. It was a solid showing for Tatum and a great team effort from the Celtics, but let's not get carried away. If Middleton was healthy, there's a good chance that the Bucks could've ended it in 6.
