Before the season i had KD but he looked a half a step slower this year. I cant pick Luka yet because he is so early in his career. lebron is old, steph is too small, kahwai always hurt, embid and jokic need someone to get them the ball. tatum can be very average at times in terms of being a superstar.

I think im going with Giannis, yes he didnt look dominant in game 7 but i feel he was just worn out from having to carry his team on both sides of the floor and that finally caught up to him.

I also gave some serious thought to Lebron. He carries the added bonus that he had the late-career habit of knocking down absolutely terrible shots. After he won the Cavs championship, the basketball gods gifted him some sort of bonus mode where he could just toss the ball at the basket without trying and it will still go in. I still remember what the **** this was:

I'm not sure Lebron carries the same defensive 1 game impact though. Back in 2020 when these 2 were still relatively healthy, Lebron might have been carrying more defensive impact night to night, but I think Lebron "dialing it up" is for a few possessions, where I think Kawhi could still absolutely ruin a guys night, even if that guy is Luka or Giannis. The one caveat there is that Kawhi no longer fights around screens so that chips away at his iso impact. The Mavs last year could get rid of Kawhi with 1 screen whenever they felt like it.

LeBron, Giannis and Luka are getting a lot of love already so I'll throw in Tatum. He wasn't stellar in game 7 but game 6 was really something special to witness in the moment. The Celtics were crumbling from the deja vu of game 5 and he took the ball and snapped them out of it. He makes some tough **** shots.
