This is Steph Curry’s moment

Post#1 » by RoyceDa59 » Mon May 30, 2022 6:31 pm

There’s really only one major question still unanswered with Steph Curry’s unbelievable, HOF career.

Can he utterly dominate a finals series start to finish, hitting big shots closing out games, and securing the finals MVP? Leaving behind all doubt. Like we’ve seen from LeBron, Durant, Giannis, Kawhi, Duncan, Dirk, Shaq and Kobe.

We’ve never to see it from Curry.

He’s already an easy HOF and one of the most influential players of all time - ushering in a new generation of high volume highly efficient long range shooters. Changing the game forever.

But on an individual impact level, to be in that goat convo, Curry still has to prove that he can hit that next gear and be the most dominant player in a series from start to finish against elite competition. This is the true measure of a player’s peak greatness.

This is really all that’s missing from an otherwise otherworldly career. And at the tail end of his prime, this season is Currys moment to remove all doubt and prove to everyone that he belongs in the top 10 goat convo.

I’m rooting for him.

This is Curry’s moment… do you think we will do it?

This isn't his moment. Smart is gonna hold his reputation to making sure Curry looks bad. This is Wiggins moment.

Curry has a chance to make Wiggins look almost as good, if not better than Tatum and that will be the defining storyline of this series.
Sam Hinkie gets removed from the league for enacting a plan approved by the fanbase yet NIco Harrison and Patrick Dumont keep their job for alienating their fanbase. Make it make sense.

Nah, it won't happen because that's not what he plays for. Individual accomplishment, goat convo? Nah. Anyone who has followed his career knows that he is all about winning--you know, the team winning. What with it being a team game, and all. That's what matters to Curry.

Yes, this is.

This will either solidify him as a first ballot hall of famer. OR might fuel a lot of the talk about how he needs a very deep supporting cast and isn't a superstar.

Also from a matchup stand point -

Tatum -> Wiggins
Brown = Klay
Marcus Smart <- Curry

Curry needs to step up completely and destroy Smart. It's a key matchup

Durant doesn't belong. The rest were the undisputed #1s who put the team on their back.

This was vs LAC but you know it was the same thing vs the Cavs every year

Curry already had that moment of dominating a finals, KD is the one who has yet to prove it.

lol. Steph Curry could retire tomorrow and he's a first ballot HoF'er. He doesn't need any more "moments" to solidify his legacy.

If Steph Curry doesn't finally win a championship this year, he'll never get one and he'll go down as just another loser.

What a great photo...1,000 words or more from that shot! I saw a video a couple years back that showed how many wide open shots KD got in the playoffs because teams sold out to defend Steph. It was astonishing.

I don't think this series can influence his legacy at all. He's made it, first ballot no problem. Lack of Finals MVP's is just his unselfishness, Iguodala hitting wide open shots was by design of that team system & the openings Steph's play brings, good on Iggy to hit those open jumpers but without Curry he'd have to work for those.
I think he wins it though no problem, drops almost 30ppg and it'll look so easy people will take it for granted lol

It is a moment that will help define Curry more fully but we already know the likely contours.

Will he dominate from start to finish the way Jordan did filling out the box score? No. That is not Curry's modus operandi. Curry is his own thing. He will first exert his influence through his teammates. If they wobble, he will fill the gap and stiffen the line. If things get desperate that's when he'll increasingly show the firepower at his disposal.

We've seen this already over and over again. 2015 finals, 2016 and 2018 conference finals, 2019 conference semi-finals. He and his team look lost for a bit and then wham! the opponent doesn't quite know what hit but it's over.

Steph has had plenty of moments already.

Let Al Horford have a moment before he retires. The man has done it the right way. Played hard on both ends of the court, worked on his game constantly, avoided all diva-like behaviors, and stayed out of trouble off the court finally to get to an NBA finals for the first time at age 35. He deserves this moment. Steph doesn't need anymore moments.

Steph was clearly injured on the Horford play. Even if he plays he'll be pretty limited. This series is over.
