Way overdue. We wouldn't have been arguing over whether Tim Duncan was a PF or C all those years if this had happened long ago, lol.

Hate it. It's works forever so why change it. The All-NBA award is probably the best and most reliable NBA award

I voted yes, but just make it like the ASG ballot. Not that difficult.

This is completely useless. I considered cutting all ties and moving to the moon, but that doesn't mean its going to happen.

If he's open to making changes, can we also take injured players off the vote list and tweak the percentages of fan vote versus everyone else? Hopefully it'll stop taking votes away from deserving players who get lost in these loopholes.

Would this be that hard to do? Are people really clamoring to maintain the sanctity of positions on the All-NBA teams. This is years overdue and would likely be overwhelmingly welcomed by most NBA fans.

Oh yes I see that now, thank you. Point stands if anyone wants to make an All-Star changes thread lol

Re: Stein: Adam Silver, NBA Considering Removing Positions From All-NBA Teams
People are arguing to keep it the same while NBA teams literally manipulate the "position" on the depth charts to try and angle their guys onto the teams. Just let them put the best 5 players on each team so we don't have to do all this posturing and manipulating.

Re: Stein: Adam Silver, NBA Considering Removing Positions From All-NBA Teams
Just use 2 backcourt positions and 3 frontcourt, that's enough.
Adam Silver is just a disgrace. Tries to make everybody and everyone happy, it won't work out in the end.

All NBA teams should have a big, guard and forward then fill in the last 2 spots with anyone.

That doesn't work either! Why is a "small forward" front court for starters? You're going to tell me Leonard plays in the front court and not the back court? Butler? Middleton? Bogdanovic? I can go on but you get my point.

He's really the anti-David Stern. He panders way too much to the new casual fans and national talking heads in the media. Is he that scared of ESPN/FS1 criticizing him if he makes a mistake? I would love to be on the NBPA the next time CBA negotiations come up.

Dumb idea. All NBA now will just be top 15 in MVP voting.

Problem is it's guaranteed that some players will hate the new setup especially since there are contract implications upon making an All-NBA team. You could end up with years where possibly certain positions end up with maybe two players or even one making any of the three teams.

Nothing could be gained by this.. Keep it historical.
Next we will be basing MVP purely on highest PIPM score or some other single year impact algorithm.

Re: Stein: Adam Silver, NBA Considering Removing Positions From All-NBA Teams
I think it’s silly how they’ve had the teams. 2 guards, 2 forwards, and a center. So a team can have 2 point guards, 2 shooting guards, 2 small forwards, or 2 power forwards but it can’t have 2 centers?
I kinda think that it should either go: PG, SG, SF, PF, C, or it should be position less.
And for much of NBA history I’d argue that a small forward is more like a shooting guard. Tmac, Vince Carter, and Paul Pierce were more like shooting guards than power forwards.
So for most of NBA history I’d prefer if the positions were:
Point Guard
Wing
Wing
Big
Big
But now teams are like:
Point Guard
Wing
Wing
Wing
Big
Or they could take the All-star format:
Backcourt
Backcourt
Front court
Front court
Front court
