Is an Equipment Cheating Culture ok?

Do you think deflate gate and the Patriots success at minor cheating inspired Boston to 'accidentally' missalign the warriors basket 2 inches too high for shoot around warm ups?

How pathetic is it when a team feels the need to cheat like this to try to gain an edge?

It seems weird to me. Especially for a first game hosting the Finals, where the world is watching. Europeans and other countries already doubt the moral direction of sport in America and it seems a sad reminder. Or is anything goes for an edge ok?

What sense does that make from Boston’s POV when they just switch sides at the half anyway?

Dub Nation has already begun crying conspiracy -- suggesting that the Celtics raised the rim on purpose to throw off Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and the rest of the Warriors sharpshooters -- but, as Kerr said, these things happen from time to time.

While fans are big mad, Warriors coach acknowledges it occasionally happens.

It's sad that Boston thinks they can't win without pulling these kinds of shenanigans.

Having said that, as someone who grew up playing sports year-round; it's only cheating if you get caught. We're talking about some of the most competitive people on the planet.

I don't see it any different than some of the bull shenanigans that happen in the business world as well. Not my cup of tea and personally, I find it disgusting, but uber competitive people gonna do what they do.

I'm so sad that the Europeans with love of all their flopping soccer players have doubts about the moral direction of American sports, whatever that means.

But screw Boston regardless.

It’s weird cause raising the rim a full 2 inches is easily noticeable to professional basketball players… Like very noticeable. It’s pretty noticeable to me and I’m just a regular dude.

So they’re either all incredibly stupid for thinking they could get away with it, or… more than likely, it was an honest mistake by the guys who set up the courts, because the Celtics were going to have to shoot at the goal in the 2nd half.

Were they going to lower the rim after they switch sides or?

When all these accidents only happen in Boston...

Yeah sure. And of course nobody was going to notice when suddenly at half time they break out the ladders and mysteriously change the rim height!
Please, if you are going to try and put forth some idiotic conspiracy theory at least put some effort into it!

Or perhaps one of the Celtic's coaches (like the weight trainer) might suddenly stick out his knee and knock down one of the Warriors's players when he is on a fast break! But of course a Jet's fan wouldn't know anything about that.

It’s true. Zero chance this was some team plot. It’s way to stupid. Players will notice a two inch height difference every single time, and they’ll notice right away as happened here.

It’s a mistake and as Kerr said, it does happen. They would’ve noticed the moment they took the first shot

Fair enough, but some dude has one job and is literally paid to set up the hoops for the most important game of the year, has high tech equipment and its off only for opposing team warmups?

If that dude isnt fired, their was a wink and a nod from management. Congrats to Boston on bounceback win.

I was going to say this happens a lot, you just dont hear about it because no one makes a stink over it and because of the Auerbach thing they had to move them right before the game. OP wouldnt have made the thread if his team had won tonight.

If they didnt catch it Boston would have had it for the second half….
