Bust-Chet Holmgren Jabari Smith Shaedon Sharpe
Star-i don't feel 100% confident in any tbh but I think Paolo Banchero Jaden Ivey AJ Griffin Jalen Duren and even Keegan Murray have good shot.

Re: NBA Draft 2022: BUST & STAR!
I think Chet has the highest bust potential. Most of Chet's stats came in transition and they declined in the half-court and against like-sized players. When he gets to the NBA he's going to be almost exclusively playing in the half-court against players as long as him.
So all the easy stats that he got in transition don't translate to the pros.
In college, Chet had a near-identical block and steal rate that Bamba had. Bamba played against bigger players. I just don't buy that Chet is a generational defender and shot-blocker.
I like Sharpe and Johnny Davis to be stars. Davis surprised me when he measured to be as big as Booker.

Ivey is going to be a star. It's pretty obvious with his athleticism.

Highest bust potential is definitely Chet.
Biggest star potential are probably Ivey, Sharpe, and Banchero.

I also predict that there’ll be a surprising All-Star level player drafted somewhere in the 15-20 range. Someone like Malaki Branham or EJ Liddell.

Re: NBA Draft 2022: BUST & STAR!
Bust-AJ Griffin; injuries, no clear position and a Marvin Williams career trajectory. Banchero and Smith will both disappoint.
Star-Tougher. I think Chef will develop into an excellent starter alongside a star perimeter player, but will not be a star himself. Murray will be an excellent player but not a star.

If he is a top-20, bust Kessler. I think he will be terrible.

No idea. I like Jabari Smith and think he will be a solid NBA player. Perfect fit for the Magic in my opinion. Ivey probably has the highest ceiling in this draft. I was surprised how clutch he was in the tournament too.

Re: NBA Draft 2022: BUST & STAR!
Banchero to me is the guy with the most potential to be a primary ball handler/focal point of an offense that you can run your system through and give you star-quality offensive production. Paolo can handle, pass, and score from all 3 levels. He's young and inconsistent of course, but he has the body and the skillset to do it.
Jabari could average 20 per game on good efficiency in an off-ball role, but you aren't running your system through him.
Chet is such a wild card. Skilled and long but he's a slow-footed toothpick...highest bust potential for sure, but maybe has the highest ceiling as well. He will probably struggle early in his career until he adds weight either way.

I join Chet bust wagon. Not an educated opinion as I dont watch college, but I just do not see it with him at all. Very poor man's Johnathan Isaak.

Bust - Chet. For all the reasons already mentioned
Star - Ousmane Dieng. If he has the work ethic, he has the measurements and the tools. Needs patience and the right coach

The comments per view on this thread is so low. Too tough of a draft to read?
My stars are Banchero and Ivey.
My bust is Sharpe. Mainly because I don't feel good about calling other guys in the top-10 busts. Maybe Duren if he goes that high.

Based on how I know the Heat system, this is who the Miami Heat will select with the 27th Pick;
Justin Lewis 6'7 245 Marquette
Justin Lewis 6'7 245 Marquette

Re: NBA Draft 2022: BUST & STAR!
If you're asking who has the greatest potential to be a bust in the top 10 it's obviously Chet.
BUT the thread is asking who are you CONFIDENT will be a bust...
I'm not confident he will be and in fact I don't think he will be in the actual sense where he is a bad player (ie/ Kwame Brown, Anthony Bennett etc). I think Chet's bball IQ is too high for him to not at least be a useful player that can help protect the rim, space the floor & pass the ball something like a super skinny Marc Gasol lol. I think he will have a good role in the NBA, the question is will he become a star in the NBA and that I'm not as confident in but I still think is possible depending on how his shot develops & passing instincts.
If there is any player that seems "most likely" to be a star I'm split between Jabari & Paolo. Paolo just already has all the size & skill that if a team slots him at the SF position should be able to become a 20+ppg scorer. Of course the questions are on the defensive end but a lot of "stars" aren't great on that end either. Jabari also can arguably do the 2 biggest things sought after in the NBA (shoot & defend)....the kid shoots like MP Jr but is much stronger and defends a thousand times better so it's hard for me to see a scenario where he's not at least a quasi star like MP Jr especially with better defence. I also think he'll put the work in to improve his handle over time so I'm actually fairly confident he will be a star, only question is will he be a star or superstar. All of that will be dependent on how he develops his ballhandling and passing but I think the kid has the drive to do it.
Personally I only really look at people who flopped in the top 10 as busts and right now it's very hard to gauge but if I had to pick the names that get floated in the top 10 that I'm not that confident in/may become ones are Sochan, Duren & Davis (in that order for me).

Re: NBA Draft 2022: BUST & STAR!
This draft has been one of those that I don't have a very good feel for. Keep saying "hit or miss" in regards to a lot of players in this one, which I think is going to be the case for a lot of the top guys.
I don't think the best player in this draft is going to Jabari Smith Jr. or Holmgren. Jabari I'm not sold on at all as being the top talent. Think there is a good chance he will be an all-star level player, but I think there are a number of other players in this draft that could end up better than him. I can see Holmgren developing into a completely different player than the prototype we're currently looking at, which could push him head and shoulders above the rest if he reaches that potential, but I can see him just being a good starter rather than an all-star level player.
Of the top 3, Banchero has the highest bust potential to me, but I can also see him being the best player. Either a Blake Griffin type or Derrick Williams.
Jaden Ivey to me is who I feel has the highest potential, but can also see him just becoming someone in the Coby White/Malik Monk tier.
Like I said, Sharpe is either hit or miss. Can easily be the next LaVine or J.R. Smith. Would not be surprised to see him slip outside of the lottery.
Along with Holmgren, I see Keegan Murray as one of the safest picks in the top 5, doesn't mean he's going to the best player though.
I wouldn't surprised to see a number of players outside the top five end up being the best players in this draft. I think a lot of what determines who succeeds in this draft is going to be the player's personality, work ethic and team that picks them. Since we don't really have access to any of that, it's hard to gauge who's really going to be what. All in all, think this draft is pretty deep with talent, I just don't see anyone really towering over the rest.
As a Kings fan, Jaden Ivey is who I'd like to see us pick, but I wouldn't be mad if we picked Murray instead. I know the Kings are considering moving down, but unless they can get an all-star or something good in return, I'd rather we just stay at 4. I'd rather us gamble on Ivey's potential or pick up someone in Murray who should be able to contribute and a fill a needed role from the start.
