Is Andrew Wiggins the worst second option of all time on a title team?

Off the top of my head, I actually can't recall a worse second option on a title team.
If he truly is the worst second option of all time on a title team, the gravity of Curry is even more powerful than originally thought.
The only title in recent memory that can compare is Dirk's, but Terry was better offensively than Wiggins.

2003
It was before Ginobili and Parker became what they became a few years later and Robinson was past his prime

He wasn't the second option. He was the defense's first option. Huge difference.

Being the second leading scorer doesn’t make you a scoring option. For example Poole got his number called more than Wiggins. Wiggins just gets happens to get more open looks off of what other actual scoring options create for him. He’s almost totally reliant on what others create.

Vernon Maxwell in 94 seems a bit worse to me. Unless you're taking someone else on that team, but he sure was the guy who took the second most shots.

Okay so change the name for your argument...
Was Klay the worst second option of all time?
Wiggins was second in scoring, but you can use Klay if you like.

Who do y'all want to choose as Curry's second option?
Wiggins 101 FG attempts. (2nd leading scorer)
Klay 101 FG attempts. (Atrocious shooting and shell of former self)
Poole 62 FG attempts.
Regardless of who you consider the second option, he may be the worst second option of all time on a title team.

Off top of my head
Spurs Ginobili or Parker
Rockets Vernon Maxwell
Pistons Richard Hamilton or Rasheed Wallace
Mavericks Jason Terry

People need to stop judging a team based on one series. The Warriors played 82 RS games and 4 Post-season series. Looking at all the data it is clear the Warriors didn't have a second option this year.
Curry was the playmaker, the Warriors had 3 secondary shot takers of roughly equal importance:
Poole/Wiggins/Klay. Who got the shot out of these guys was mainly a product of who was playing well at the moment and matchups

2011 Mavs second scoring option was a 33 year old Jason Terry. By that point Terry was past his prime. He was an effective scorer but I would put him in the same tier as Poole if not lower.

Warriors dont have a traditional pecking order.
Its basically steph and then a carousel of klay, poole, or wiggins. Any one of them can be a second option on any night.

This is an interesting question TBH. So in order to answer this question, I think we must first find the best way to quantify the total impact that Wiggins had... which needs to include his full impact on the opponent's offense from guarding Luka, Tatum, etc. Once we've established what his value is using an agreed upon method, we can then use the same method on other 2nd options and compare.

Hah! That's an logical fallacy. Why?
Team A might have a good 2nd option and then a bunch of scrubs in positions #3-8.
Team B might not have as good a 2nd option as Team A, but then might have quality #3-4 options.
Team C might not have as good a 2nd option as Team A, but then might have quality depth in positions #3-8.
We also know that in rare instances, like the GSW Super-Team with KD...
Team D might have as good a 2nd option as Team A, and quality #3-4 options, and quality depth in positions #5-8!

He had the third highest usage rate on the team after Poole, but he also played nearly twice as many minutes as Poole.

Wiggins gamescore: 14.1
Tatum gamescore: 13.8
A 2nd option (which Wiggins isnt, offensively at least), who can take out the opponents best player and outplay him over the series is a pretty good 2nd option. Besides Curry's FMVP, Wiggins redemption has been amazing to see. Let's not disrespect how he showed out this series

If you win a championship as the second best player in the team, you are great…there is no “worst” in it

Great thread
Maybe?
In terms of what he produced in 6 games, It's as good as a lot of second/third options ,But the GS team is kinda deep.
He's probably better then Jason Terry, who was the second best player on that Mav's team, so no

Wiggins just looked like the second option because Tatum couldn't guard him, therefor his numbers look elite. The pecking order is:
Curry
Green (initiation of the offense)
Klay
Wiggins

Wiggins was great, there a two sides of the court and he was excellent on one of them and won them game 5 with his offense.
not a great thread.
