I think his list is excellent TBH, it's very hard to argue against. I have Kobe over 3 of the 4 guys you named (except Larry) in my personal list too, as I think he was a more talented offensive player who could still lead his team to titles... and therefore, a better #1 option than they were. I also value peak over longevity, provided a player has a decently long prime (approx 10 years).

It would have been nice to include Hakeem. It looks like Max is paying homage to Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain, for their place in basketball history. Then he's gone with Duncan over Hakeem, since Duncan has 5 titles to Hakeem's 2. I too think Hakeem was a Top 10 player and a better Center than Kareem, Duncan, Russell... yet have to begrudgingly agree he may not have the resume for Top 10.
